My kids loved the Charlie Brown movie as did their friends at school (grade 3/4). May be Apple should put out the next Peanuts movie as well to help advertise their streaming service?

Really?
I had no idea... interesting

It must not work very well (or on everyone), as I watched a ton of Peanuts growing up and am as non-religious as humanly possible
Well it was the only animated Christmas special I can remember that specifically quoted the Bible.

No, because once I pay for HBO, I can watch it on my TV, on my cell phone, on my computer, etc. Not at all a good analogy. If Vizio made Game of Thrones and I could only watch on Vizio TVs I would be unhappy.

I plan to watch Apple's original programming "on my TV, on my cell phone, on my computer, etc." as well.

Game of Thrones is exclusive to HBO's platform.

Terrible idea. There goes the whole peanuts franchise. I could only imagine what the characters would look like nowadays . :(

No one said Peanuts converted you. But yeah, the original Christmas special was nearly not aired due to the producers being concerned that the religious tones were over the top. Heck, even in everyday Peanuts Linus is a frigging theological scholar. Do you even read what references he offers up for, what, a nine year old?

Why is this in PRSI?

Anyway, I don’t think anyone asked for this, lol
Anything content-related that Apple does will garner speculation that a modernized i.e. social justice message will be part of any retool. That conversation would lead to PRSI territory. (Which happened with the article about Apple creating a news service. Several posts were removed because the article wasn't flagged PRSI.)

I don't think this is Macrumor's fault. Tim Cook has interjected social messages into Apple business quite a bit. For forum posters to be wary of an Apple content agenda is natural and shows we're paying attention to all the Macrumors articles! Pretty much, articles about Apple content could go that direction without anyone really trying. Macrumors has been great to try to handle this issue. We don't want politics everywhere of course.

The Peanuts Movie (2015) had them looking just about like they did in the '60s and '70s except done in CGI instead of inked animation. I would imagine this will be done in the same way. They can't afford to stray too far from Charles Schultz's vision and expect to keep the fan base.

"In one of the bigger deals for Apple's upcoming streaming TV service, Variety reports today that the Cupertino company has made a deal with DHX Media to produce all-new "Peanuts" content that will be exclusive to Apple."

Bad idea which I sincerely hope fails miserably. Charles Schulz never wanted anyone else to draw his characters; he made that a part of his contract with United Features. I would have hoped his wishes would be respected.
He was also a hyper competitive and egotistical dolt (although Lynn Johnston of For Better or Worse said it more politely). Shultz was even quite open that he would take his bad days at the golf course, through the comics, out on Charlie Brown. Nice. Whether he has art hanging in the Louvre or not, don't care what others do with his creations.

Remember when Tim Cook thought it would be young and hip to force a U2 album down everyone's throats? He should recuse himself on matters of entertainment based on that alone.

I feel like the new Apple campus has a secret room where they keep a humanoid type creature they call The Oracle hooked up to a bunch of wires and tubes who makes all their original content approval decisions based on the tastes and sensibilities of a 65 year old human.

I think everything on Mac Rumors can end up in PRSI these days and yes that is sad. Peanuts specifically always did have a very specific Christian message to it though. Someone will get offended over that and someone else will get offended over offense (or perceived as such) at Christianity. Good popcorn topic :p
Huh? Is the indecipherable voice of the teacher supposed to be that of Jesus? Is it because all of the church and baptism scenes? This is not the show I would have labeled as Christian.

I'd like to explicitly tell them not to. The Peanuts gang are the Mascots at our local amusement park. It really is the saddest thing ever.

People need to quit looking at Apple's tech to point out that they've lost their edge. Just look at what they are green lighting for entertainment and it's clear they've hurled themselves off the edge and face planted on a bouncy castle.
So the A series mobile silicon is not universally known as best in the business?

They don’t have the best neural engine?

They don’t have some of the best cameras, video, and photo processing on the market?

Their designs don’t drive the entire industry?

FaceID isn’t the most secure and easiest to use facial recognition on the market?

AirPods aren’t the best, easiest to use, truly wireless headphones on the market for daily use?

ApplePay...the fastest, most secure, and anonymous form of payment possible is just like all the others?

Watch 4 with cellular and ECG is just commonplace in the market?

I like how people don’t notice or care for the innovation that exists, so they say it doesn’t. Apple is destroying the competition in so many categories, it’s almost unfair.

Apple has:
The best wearables in general
The best watch
The best silicon
The best neural engine..5T operations per second
The best mobile payment system
The best facial recondition
The best security
The best support
The best ecosystem
The best OS
Among the best screens, cameras, and materials used in the industry.

They aren’t even just ahead in software now. They are ahead in hardware too.

I'm not sure about that nowadays because of everything has to be politically correct .
