I know it comes with the territory of following Steve, but Tim Cook is the most under appreciated CEO I have ever seen. He could oversee Apple’s invention of teleportation while curing cancer and people on MacRumors would be complaining about how terrible he is.
Probably. I have my issues with Cook but looking at the stock price/company value he's done amazingly well as CEO

My prediction is that they barely get the new Siri enhancements out the door in iOS 18.4 by mid-to-late May 2025.

I’m really interested to know if/when my HomePod will not be so bloody useless. “Ask me again from your iPhone”. It used to automagically send a notification to my iPhone with extra info.

"Hello, Apple Intelligence" being the new tagline for both iPhones meanwhile it is not fully ready for another half a year is actually insane for Apple.
Hopefully this is the last time Timmy pulls this nonsense.
I would rather they take their time and get it right and working like in the keynotes. Because everyone’s else’s rushed efforts have been dismal and are just an excuse to monetize half baked ideas.

Looking forward to that myself. Well not the HomePod per se but Siri. We ask our Google speaker things all the time (mostly related to some movie we're watching) and get informative responses that are useful. Siri more often than not just returns some web links. We want a clear, spoken answer especially since most questions are pretty simple.

When most purchases are on financing (apple gets paid later) it's only fair users get the features later
That’s not how financing works. Apple gets paid in full immediately. The lender gets paid back over time. Apple does not directly finance anything - it’s always with a partner (Apple Card=Goldman Sachs, iUP/installments=Citizens One, carrier financing=carrier’s problem)

It's impossible, because you can't separate the humans at OpenAI from the software, since the humans control the software.

If the software can read it, the humans can always program the software to make a copy of the text available to them.
Yeah I don’t know if it’s possible.

I’m imagine there technically could be a way but ChatGPT is not yet set up that way to do it because it wasn’t built from the ground up with privacy in mind.

Terms and conditions are only as good as honor and not being hacked. Once breached, that’s it.

I hope they use some kind of intelligence to fix this awful Photos app. It was perfectly fine as it was. Now it has got so much sorting and data in it that it is completely complicated. And what happened to the aspect ratio for pictures on the iPad? They look like they are on an iPhone With huge black bars and small pictures. I hope that is some thing that I am doing wrong because I really don’t like that.
I changed it to as close to previous arrangement as before by doing the following:

Open Photos

Scroll all the way down & select Customize & Reorder

Uncheck all except: Albums/Shared Albums/Media Types/Utilities then tap X in upper right.

Profit!!

Ghat GPT/Siri integration should've been ready to go from 18.0 onwards. The fact that none of this AI stuff is ready is a joke. Your main upgrade this year at launch is a camera button that's basically the same thing as what the 15 Pro series action button can do. Yipee!!

I'm a simple man... Please tell me that Siri's ability to understand voice dictated messages is going to improve drastically. I'm a native speaker of English, and it blows my mind how badly Siri does with pronouns on a regular basis, among other things.

Yeah don’t see a need for Apple ai. Won’t be using iPhone mirroring either. Why bother when iPhone is likely next to me - and I’d rather plug in and download photos thru Image Capture.
Of course Apple may force me to change as they denigrate their older apps like Preview for simple edits.
Meanwhile Numbers gets mumble dumb as they continue to add features ( is it a spreadsheet, or presentation app) to what was once Multiplan - which apparently is no longer in their autocorrect Dictionary.

So Apple releases a phone focus on AI.. without any AI in it.. for most of the world except US.. and people are still buying it?

This **** really made me to finally switch from this crappy company, for real, I’m done

So glad they’re doing this in slow, beta updates.

People can cry but they don’t realize how much better this will make the product in the long run.

Everything when it’s out will be a fleshed out product hopefully.
I hope so too! The writing tools are not very good at the moment. If you have two entities in a paragraph, like a company and a person you’re addressing, it often switches them around, pretty bad. Funny thing is, Gemini does the same thing.

ChatGPT is much better at the moment, and I hope that integration doesn’t require me to approve access every time I choose to use it (a simple settings switch please).

Slow is good.

This is why I'm not buying it when Apple is saying the 16 series is created with Apple intelligence in mind. It's not, and it's pretty obvious. If it's designed along with AI, why did it take half of its life to complete the selling features? It's like saying the iPhone now has night mode or some camera features, but you have to wait 6 months after buying to be able to use it, though.

It's the 17 series that is designed with fully realized Apple Intelligence from the beginning. And it will show in the product itself, how fast and smooth it will be running all these AI features.

Yes, as someone who frequently uses ChatGPT, I feel that Apple’s writing tools are significantly behind. Perhaps this is because it’s a “slimmed-down” version designed to run on-device, although I’m not entirely sure. I hope they offload a substantial portion of the rewriting task to private cloud compute so that it can improve.

Thanks. I’ll try that.

And now Siri does not stay alert for the 3 to 5 seconds that she did After your last request in case you had another request. And she doesn’t turn off when you say thank you. What the heck?
