All these folks so upset that everything in the world isn't free. Can't understand that things that require constant AI usage cost companies money and therefore they can't provide them for free.

How dare they not give me everything at no cost at all!
It’s not “at no cost” in this instance. AI pushes raise electric costs, pollute local systems with ugliness, noise, and actual pollution, cause increased technology costs (see recent Apple price hikes), steal more of our data to sell and steal our privacy at zero compensation to us, cause higher stress levels and ongoing dehumanization… the list goes on and on. There is absolutely individual and societal cost to this increasing AI push from these tech giants.

But personally I’m not out here demanding “free” AI. It’s an overall crappy service but services are paid nonetheless. Less of the crap overall would be nicer imo.

Almost everyone here vigorously claimed, multiple times, back in 2025 they'd remove Apple AI as soon as it was loaded/installed on their Apple devices.

And now people are going non-linear about one Apple AI feature (HomeKit video camera motion alerts) being a paid for iCloud+ option? Too funny.
"Yeah but the AI video summaries is actually useful!"

I think people tend to not want "Chatbot AI slop" whereas other AI features like the Home accessory upgrades are generally accepted/wanted by people.

Of course it's useful. That's not the point. People are outraged they have to pay for a 2TB iCloud+ plan. Apparently feeling it should be free. Because free stuff is good. And taking a daily swing at Apple (and in the past Cook, and even Jobs when he was running Apple) always feels good. It's a forum tradition going back 20 years.

Have you considered discussing the actual topics and not "other forum members"?

Remember kids....the " A " in Apple now stands for "Apartheid". The rich and the poor. The haves and have nots. A Tale of Two Cities. You're either in the BIG Apple Club....or you're not.

Never buy a new Apple product again. The used and refurb market should be everyone's go-to source for anything Apple. Also, keep your subscriptions to a bare minimum. Remember....there was a time in your life in which you did not have any Apple products or if you did you did not have ANY Apple subscriptions. And your life was just fine. Remember that time and try to recreate it.

This will cost me $0 extra dollars and give me even more benefits. Not to mention AppleOne is already ridiculously cheap as HELL. For 5 people. Yeah $40 for 2TB iCloud+ with 5 Apple Music Streams wherever, with Arcade, and News? and Fitness? I mean my god if a man has an Apple Family and has to spend $40 for his wife and 3 kids to unlimited AppleTV and Apple Music? wtf... the complaints in here are hilarious, there just not applicable, not to mention Unlimited Cameras? I have 3 that as a matter of fact didn't get "priced out" or told they weren't incompatible. Yeah, I am ok no increase so...
😂😂😂😂😂😂

Appreciate it.
I think your posts are more valuable when they are about topics and not other people.
👍

Yes, that is what I think too. And i welcome advocating NVR, both as a solution (network video recorder) and as a gesture (non-violent resistance) 😊😊😊

Apple's 2TB iCloud+ plan is not being forced on anyone. If you have security cameras, and don't want to use iCloud+, simply purchase (or make/create) an NVR. That's what I did years ago. Easy.

I love all the haters. Just because Apple is a trillion dollar company doesn't mean they should be giving away services for free. They didn't get that way for nothing!
Some Apple customers might be jumping ship soon enough. They don't even specify the tiers you would have to subscribe to for their ****** AI implementation.

People have a right to be outraged. It's called freedom of speech on an Apple forum.

FFS. AI processing is f’ing expensive, especially video categorization. Apple already offers a ton of AI features for free. Asking users to pay for more advanced processing if they want it is not unreasonable.

Someone can buy a new iPhone, and never pay Apple a single dollar ever again, and they’ll still get a ton of useful AI features and be happy about it and not give a damn about all these other pay-for features.

I sure hope it stays this way (the "if they want it, they pay for it" part)

A huge component of the opposition to the tech is how it's being foisted on everyone.

Well complaining about something that might happen is idiotic. And nothing is being foisted on anyone; there’s a toggle switch to turn Apple Intelligence off. It would be one thing if Apple forced everyone who used HomeKit Secure Video to pay for this new AI features whether they want it or not, but that’s not the case.

Apple doesn’t make anyone pay for anything after they buy an Apple product. They used to charge for OS upgrades; if you wanted any new features, you had to pay for it.

Until the goal post is moved with a plan price increase lol
Which is BS because with my iPhone being 1tb and trying to use their iCloud for my pictures backed up, I'm always hitting the 2tb capacity and need to either upgrade or delete videos? Sure, we can add another stackable 2tb, but with premier, at that point might as well get the 6tb and that's an extra apple premier subcription. Apple as usual is out of touch with current times.

In my case though I share my apple premier subscription with my family so, I'm still at a loss here.
