Do they really think people want this instead of a working cloud, functioning music experience or finally having a good home App?
I ask myself this question a lot, but then have to consider that a very large percentage of Apples user base is actually the sort of person that is happy to sit and waste their time using things like Image Playground and Genmoji... so maybe they ARE developing for their core audience and people who are inclined to use a forum like this (us, tech professionals or enthusiasts) are in the minority.

I am still waiting for any Apple Intelligence features to reach my iPhone 16 Pro, iPad Air M2 and MacBook Pro M4 Pro... So, I'd rather wait a little longer and Apple get it right, rather than having a disappointing "alpha tester" experience on a production version of the OS.

While I'd like to have Apple Intelligence, I'd prefer to have properly and reliably working features or none at all.

It is the same with all of the other AIs I've used, they tease with some nice easy demos, then, as soon as I give them something meaty to do, the results are often very shaky... I don't want to use alpha/beta software for real tasks, I want something that is reliable and gives consistently accurate results, not enough that are wrong at a glance, so that I have to double check all results.

I don’t think you fully grasp how complex managing top executive levels can be. I’m pretty sure you can’t do it. Please remember that just recently, Apple completely revamped its AI leadership team. If this leadership were to accept that they should perform miracles in just a few days, they’d disqualify themselves.

So, if they followed your opinion, they’d actually be a danger to Apple!
Funny how Google managed to see AI coming with their excellent Gemini app.

AI has been developing for years. It didn’t just appear overnight.

The best CEOs are proactive not reactive. They anticipate emerging trends and plan ahead. Apple generally do that well but they missed the boat on this occasion.

For what it’s worth, and this is totally anecdotal, but I know four “normal users” who have access to Apple Intelligence and they all love image playground and genmoji.

Sort of backing up my theory then even though the sample size is minuscule. I lost interest in about 5 minutes when it was creating the same looking dogs, people when provided with different photos. It has absolutely no use case for me personally other than wasting time - but maybe that's what most apple customers use their phones for (endless doom scrolling, dopamine hits from notifications, generating pointless images etc).

Even if it gets better, what's the use case for image playground? PTA Newsletters?

I’ve used the more powerful image generation tools for PowerPoint presentations at work, but think Image Playground is too “cartoony” for that.

8667132 & @surferfb

Agree with you both about Image Playground

Just so cartoony (perfect way to put it) and gave it a go for a few minutes and just thought "what would I ever do with this output?"

Clearly just not for me
But I have a 70+ year old relative who sends them out daily. I’ve used image playground maybe three times - she’s probably already used it three times today 🤣

Not for me either (although full disclosure I do love a good genmoji now and then)

I'm glad somebody is using it!
Good for her 🙂 👏

Sounds like my aunt would have been if she were a little younger and more capable still

There are some problems AI can’t solve and that is the number of cars on the road.
AI is solving that with autonomous vehicles and drive sharing. 95% of the time an owned car stands still at home or work. Ride sharing and autonomous driving will solve that.

That probably has a better chance over where you live perhaps

We are so far from that being any kind of widespread of mainstream reality in the US

So far

So Apple is reduced to other companies these days? Nothing special anymore.
Oh no, they are very, very “special” due to their concern for the customer. They are simply stuck playing another company’s game here….. they didn’t invent LLM’s/AI but they have long been using AI and their game is protecting our privacy and missteps right now can be very deadly - I see bear traps in the weeds, do you? There is a lot of “don’t step over there” if you have some experience. Every single company in this game is doing exactly this right now, some better than others. If you want AI crammed down your throat with each click, Windows is the way!

I'm totally confused by what you've written here

What point are you trying to make?

It’s already happening in texas and California. That’s one of the reasons some (I can’t name a person here or I maybe got banned for political reasons, it’s worse than the Pravda over here 😅) is involved in xxxxxxx

Where and how widespread?
Tell us more

Please share some links we could all read up on
My understanding is this all very limited in scope

As someone who uses FSD regularly, it’s nowhere close. Example - I live near US Route 50. Every time it sees the Route 50 sign, it thinks the speed limit has changed to 50 miles per hour.

It’s impressive, but nowhere close to “drive itself without human intervention”.
What car are you driving and which version of software?

Model Y and version 12.6.3, if the app is to be believed.

And before you say “but 13 is a gamechanger” they said the same thing about versions 11 and 12. Kinda like Siri being significantly improved, at this point I’ll believe it when I experience it. And I hope I do - I paid a lot for FSD! But Elon saying it’s coming doesn’t mean it actually is, even before his recent stint into politics the man was the king of over promising and under delivering.

Poor people who fell for the iPhone 16 marketing "Say Hello to Apple Intelligence" - these people literally got nothing besides a glitchy emojis creator by text... and chatGPT integrated into Siri, which is as pointless as integrating WhatsApp into iMessage and call it "AI"

new marketing for iPhone 17 - "Ok, now say hi to Apple Intelligence FR FR"
