On Apples own website. It’s not difficult to find it ….

Also front end apps developed for Apple intelligence have it clearly stated that it’s beta on them.
So every time you install a new iOS version do you think people should check the website to see if some beta functionality has been activated by default ?
Think before replying in such an harsh way…

We knew this was coming earliest April yet the outrage is because it’s delayed a month later?
We’ve had to wait as long as 24 days between a .3 and .4 release as recently as 2023. So really this isn’t unusual, just a time where it’s assumed that Apple normally starts the 18.4 beta in 2025 right away. Probably show up Tuesday. Monday is a holiday.

There was no harshness in my reply. Maybe you just read it in a harsh tone for some reason?

I just stated facts and posted the evidence, which as I said, isn't difficult to find. It's public information. I also believe the splash screen at startup has (or at least had) had a Beta label over the icon.

No, you're 100% right in that people shouldn't have to check that software is in Beta or not. Which is kind of part of the reason people are so annoyed at Apple. But when a company that charges a premium price for hardware has to play up to the stock market as a late comer to the AI market I guess this is the **** that customers have to deal with.

Edit.. Actually it's pretty much everywhere. Even in the Settings app the Beta badge is shown.

I believe the outrage stems from frustration with Apple’s handling of assistants and AI, coupled with the apparent lack of software vision under Tim Cook’s leadership.

One must consider the competition. A level-headed person would reasonably be irritated that Apple is the sole major company with its AI in a “beta” format, even with Apple relying on ChatGPT as a backup to the software introduced last year.

In contrast, Galaxy AI significantly surpasses Apple’s intelligence features.

- Real-time translations on texts and phone calls are an exceptional feature.

- Cross-app AI functionality is another notable feature.

- A daily summary using cross-app AI functionality is yet another impressive feature.

So, how did Apple miss this opportunity? And what does the team responsible for Siri do all day? Apparently, nothing substantial until late last year.

Yes indeed, also there is impatience with overly high expectations concerning tangible examples. But without examples of Apple disappointing all of us with their progress it’s just a lot of enthusiasts frustrated by delays. There is nothing more now but Tuesday vs Wednesday for when it will drop. I don’t think they will wait any longer then the first day after holiday. ;)

The outrage, imo, is a MacRumors vocal minority. I’ll admit I don’t know how the rest of the population of iPhone 15 and 16 users feel about this issue. Maybe someone who can be their proxy can shed some light on the overall sentiment.

A customer is entitled to feel what they want about Apples implementation of AI. When they are spending their own $$$, they don’t have to be “level-headed”.

Transcribing my voice mails has gone fairly well.

But yet, it’s still not all there and still not perfect and has been noted already, pick your poison.

Don’t think they missed an opportunity as Ai really isn’t all there. Sure is a lot of hype around it, but one needs guardrails when using it.

Galaxy AI features are currently operational and function effectively.
I am currently seated adjacent to five devices that are utilizing Galaxy AI.

Undoubtedly, this represents a significant enhancement in user experience compared to Apple Intelligence.

Good do you are happy with galaxy ai and I am happy with apple intelligence. Win/win.

Just out of curiosity who is embarrassed? I’m not. Apple probably isn’t. The board? Customers?

I just wrote “embarrassing” which it is for Apple. Has Apple ever admitted being embarrassed of a product they made, software or hardware? I cannot think of any off the top of my head, but I do recall at least under Steve Jobs, Apple would admit sometimes when they messed something up.

Thinking of iPhone 4 antenna press conference (where Apple kind of blamed users for holding it wrong, haha) but resulted in a free bumper from Apple or money to get a non-Apple case. Then MobileMe and the Apple Maps launch, which to me I really think to Steve Jobs MobileMe was very embarrassing, and Apple Maps on iOS 6 was so bad that we the customers got a public apology from Tim Cook! Just Google MobileMe launch and you get quotes like this from the New York Times, "the MobileMe launch was a massive, unforgivable technical screwup of Dr. Seussian proportions. Apple should be ashamed, embarrassed, humiliated." I mean, damn! After years, and a class action lawsuit Apple finally admitted the butterfly keyboard design was “flawed and problematic” and offered an extended repair program.

There are more examples but I bet behind closed doors at Apple, yes some are embarrassed over the launch/rollout of Apple Intelligence since iPhone 16 was designed from the ground up for it and we may not get all of Apple Intelligence until iOS 19 and iPhone 17’s are shipping!

I have defended Apple on issues I definitely should not have in the past, but come on, you cannot tell me that this “launch” and subsequent rollout (because A.I. was not even fully ready) of A.I. is not embarrassing for a company such as Apple?! Some upgraded from perfectly fine iPhone’s just to get Apple Intelligence!

I bet 80% (should be higher but never count out the Apple reality distortion field) of customers in this thread are embarrassed/unhappy with Apple’s “launch” and “rollout” of iPhone 16’s and iOS 18’s main feature!!!

:apple:

To be honest Siri is so dumb I never use it. I wish we had AI in Apple Maps so it would not drive me every day in the worst traffic on the beltway in DC.
For what it’s worth my wife uses Google Maps, I use Apple Maps, and they both put us on the Beltway all the time. Obviously don’t know what part of the DMV you’re in, but at least for us they almost always give us the same directions - only one that will occasionally provide a different route is Waze, which I believe is owned by Google.

They aren't doing anything the other companies are: each one of them are announcing what they are working toward and when they miss the deadline "turns out this was harder than initially thought". This is a Wild West situation that is unprecedented. I have sympathy for them as a dev.
So Apple is reduced to other companies these days? Nothing special anymore.

Tim Cook and his team really messed up big time by failing to see the AI juggernaut coming down the track. That’s what you get when a risk averse bean counter runs a tech company instead of a visionary.
I don’t think you fully grasp how complex managing top executive levels can be. I’m pretty sure you can’t do it. Please remember that just recently, Apple completely revamped its AI leadership team. If this leadership were to accept that they should perform miracles in just a few days, they’d disqualify themselves.

So, if they followed your opinion, they’d actually be a danger to Apple!

I as a user don’t care who messed up. Siri is trash and can only be used to set alarms and reminders. I have no hope that Apple Intelligence will be any good.

It’s embarrassing how much resources and even presentation time they waste on stupid stuff like Memoji or now Genmoji. Do they really think people want this instead of a working cloud, functioning music experience or finally having a good home App?
