Well, that was a selling point of the new phone. SIRI really useless. More so than Alexa.

Whats the point of the IOSx presentation in WWDC when increasingly we have to wait 10 months until all announced features are released..... just 2 months before we start all over again.
it’s for developers.
Cant Apple just accept that if features are ready for September then its probably best to leave them for the next major release.
Big monolithic releases like that only compound problems. It’s better to ship as things are ready.

One wonders why they didn’t just release all the Apple Intel features in iOS 19.
I’m convinced that was the original plan but the “Apple has no AI” story in the press and among analysts was starting to impact the share price so they fast-tracked it. Definitely explains the weird rollout.

Currently this has to be one of the worst rollouts Apple has ever had - and I remember the original Apple Maps and MobileMe!
This is in no way worse than MobileMe or Maps. It’s not good, mind you, but those were way worse. Apple also has the advantage that normal people don’t understand what they want AI yet.

Maybe Apple is using each incremental upgrade to Siri to help them design the next incremental upgrade.

Just give up. Apparently Siri cannot be fixed the way Apple is operating now. Do it another way.

Delete Siri. Have the OS directly integrated with an AI like ChatGPT or other partners to perform all assistant and AI functions, and let the user choose whether to enable it.

Also, as people are getting used to ChatGPT and others, they are becoming even less patient with Siri and Apple. For example, I have gotten used to assuming that the tech can grasp some context in what I say, so just last night:

Me: Siri, play XYZ (a well-known song)
Siri: (said nothing, displayed a list of movies with that name, not available via any of my subscriptions, and I didn't even know there were movies with that name)
Me: No! I meant the song! (I assumed Siri had context, because I've become used to it in even the worst of AI)
Siri: (started to play a random song, but not XYZ)
Me: Siri, play XYZ in Apple Music
Siri: (starts to play the correct song)

It was a frustrating experience and unexpected even with me knowing how stupid Siri was.

no matter what Apple Intelligence features they add to Siri, as long as it's not based on an LLM, it will remain bad.
LLMs are not the answer for everything. That’s probably the reason why it’s taking so long. Apple is bound to deliver the same crap everyone else is delivering, but then the thing “hallucinates” and, next thing you know, Siri is telling your grandma to f*** off.

Rumors suggested that Apple planned to introduce the new Siri features in iOS 18.4, but the first iOS 18.4 beta is expected as soon as next week, and it appears Siri won't be ready in time.
and then I remember that article that was providing a look back at previous iOS .4 releases and there were I think 2 that didn't go into beta til April ... so, I guess we'll find out ...
