Hmmmm…. 🤔 I forgive them. The AI space is hot and a lot of wrong moves could be made if we got into a hurry. I don’t mind waiting for a fully cooked feature set that won’t compromise my security.

I imagine personal context has been the part tripping them up. On-screen awareness has been doable since 2015 (remember Google Now on tap?). Not sure why they're bundling these features for release together though.

Just give up. Apparently Siri cannot be fixed the way Apple is operating now. Do it another way.

Delete Siri. Have the OS directly integrated with an AI like ChatGPT or other partners to perform all assistant and AI functions, and let the user choose whether to enable it.

Also, as people are getting used to ChatGPT and others, they are becoming even less patient with Siri and Apple. For example, I have gotten used to assuming that the tech can grasp some context in what I say, so just last night:

Me: Siri, play XYZ (a well-known song)
Siri: (said nothing, displayed a list of movies with that name, not available via any of my subscriptions, and I didn't even know there were movies with that name)
Me: No! I meant the song! (I assumed Siri had context, because I've become used to it in even the worst of AI)
Siri: (started to play a random song, but not XYZ)
Me: Siri, play XYZ in Apple Music
Siri: (starts to play the correct song)

It was a frustrating experience and unexpected even with me knowing how stupid Siri was.
I gave up with most things in IOS 18. Find My has my better half just showing as locating all the time, reminders don't remind, my iCloud passkey doesn't work on Apple Sites (always comes up failed to verify), iMessage syncs at a snails pace, and Siri... well... enough said.

People will probably just say I’m coping but honestly, I don’t even care. I was never a big fan of voice assistants and ever since Siri came to the iPhone I have rarely ever used it and for mainly simple tasks it continues to do just fine. Also, I am thinking more and more that AI is vastly overhyped and not that revolutionary in day to day tasks for the average person. This is why Apple Intelligence features sucking doesn’t even bother me. In fact, I have it all turned off. I’ve tried all the other AI’s and apart from maybe using ChatGPT for search now then Google, I rarely ever use them. I have no interest in an AI “agent”, which is what all these companies are racing to get out.

I just want Apple to return to polishing their software and fix bugs instead of racing out AI and trying to create more ways to generate more subscription revenue.

So basically don't expect any major improvements until iOS 19, and even then they'll probably release them in dribs and drabs. Not having their AI on multiple languages by now is also a giant fail.

This and the rumored new iPhone hideous design are just making that S25 Ultra more and more appealing to me.

Give up apples google gemini is a million times better. It’s shocking how behind Apple is, sack all the engineers and hire people that are actually good for the role. Trillion dollar company and they are ruining other new features because all the focus is on Siri and ai. It’s shocking how bad Siri is, it never works for me

Apple is just too big and slow to keep up with these seemingly weekly announcements on ai developments. They have cornered themselves into partnering with a third party whose product capabilities are being outmatched on what seems to be a weekly basis. And to-boot the 'Apple Intelligence' moniker is only hurting the brand. I’ve seen other smart phone ai capabilities and frankly, Apple’s integration is just mediocre.

NOOOOOOOO!!! I’ve been waiting two long month since I got my iPhone 16 Pro Max for a better Siri! Now I have to wait even longer? This is the worst news I’ve ever gotten! It’s 2025 and Siri will still be useless on my $4500 iPad and nearly $3000 iPhone!
The worst news you have ever gotten? Compared to what? Clearly, you don’t have that much living under your belt yet.

Not surprising. Apple is aiming for a different goal from others with personal context and the focus on privacy. I’ll take the delays as a price.

However, I’m someone with an iPhone 15 Pro Max, so I didn’t buy my phone because I was promised AI features. If I had, I may be upset or at least disappointed.

Corporate inertia - it's how they've always done it (well for the last ~ 20 years anyway), so they feel they have to keep doing it that way.

Also, devs do need the lead time... although maybe not as much as it ends up actually taking. :p
I think corporate inertia has nothing to do with it. However, your second reason is right. Also, marketing and keeping current and future customers engaged.

Anyone else find it ironic that the iPhone 16 Pro's biggest selling point this year was being 'built from the ground up' for Apple Intelligence, and we're now 1/3 of the way through the products lifecycle with just news of delays.
The hardware may be built for Apple Intelligence, but apparently they can’t pull off the software.

3.67 Trillion dollar company
For context, 3.67 trillion seconds is 116374.937 years.
