Has to come years earlier!

Good news. Finally catching up to 2007 or 2008.

I couldn't agree more!

A $60-$99 for a year. What you get is a slow and fragile online service.

Photo: go to smugmug, much much better!

Email: Many. Better than mobileme. Only you get is an email ending with @mac.com or @me.com. It is free in iTools. Did you get more after you pay for .mac?

A poor set of online softwares.

I am waiting for enhancement and did not see any progress in these years! Very disappointed.

Signed up for the beta! I agree, with the new features I hope that the overall performance of the webmail is improved! I too have to refresh every now then then to complete the task I want!

Wow, server-side rules has been the one feature I've been missing. It was so annoying to not have messages filtered when you check them on your iPhone.

MacOS Mail

This looks good and I've heard that Mobile me could be Free soon too! One thing though, when oh when will Apple put the wide screen format into the MacOS X mail app?

That is not be as exciting as if they ever offer shared calendars for the Family Pack MobileMe users. That is what I would love to see.

Yes, the new MobileMe UI should be added to the "Mail" application. I use "Mail" 99% of the time, and I almost never use the nice online UI, so I really hope they will add it in a future Mac OS X Update :)

If you wanna start the rumors (which I will because it's Macrumors) this could be prior to iPhone 4.0, the next-gen iPhone and the rumor of MobileMe becoming a free service.
In iChat you can currently only use MobileMe and AIM and Apple probably wants to get MobileMe out to more people for Videochat integration between iPhone and Mac.
Maybe Apple will roll out a free version of MobileMe for Mail and iChat (Videochat) purposes and a paid version with all the other features.

I think it would be a much better idea to negotiate a deal on Skype, since its for sale anyway.

I have never used iChat because:
1) I don't have a .mac/.me/.aim account.
2) Nobody i know uses i chat.

I'm sure iChat is a much more stable client that Skype (which give me lots of problems), but i just can't use it.

Just checked and the beta link has now been removed? Beta numbers full?
Glad I signed up if thats the case

I could not agree with this more. Currently the only option is plug-in for Mail that will enable a widescreen view but I'm not happy about using such things since they normally tend to be causes of problems following updates.

If you're talking about the link in your MM account, I think once you sign up the link disappears from the page.

Yer the link has gone, but before it just said. You have been invited and the link removed or something along those lines

0 Increased security with SSL. With the MobileMe Mail beta, accessing your email on the web is more secure than ever. Your inbox is protected to prevent anyone from eavesdropping on your webmail. As always, you receive SSL protection when you use your MobileMe Mail account on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, and PC.

so access to MobileMe Mail was not SSL-protected until now? And people were seriously paying for it? Or am I missing something?

While I am glad to see that Apple are still working on MobileMe, for myself it is too late and I dropped the service last year after getting thoroughly annoyed at the current Web Mail application. The problem now is that for me to switch back Apple really needs to either reduce the price of the service or, better, make it free to Mac users (hey, I just gave them £2000 for a new iMac). The integration of services is nice but MobileMe is not worth the price when better services are available for free. Making the service free would also go someway to making things better since developers could then depend on users having, for example, access to an iDisk.

Still, for those of you sticking it out with MobileMe I hope that this update is everything that you hoped it would be. You have more patience than I do and I thought I had that of a saint after sticking with .Mac and MobileMe for 5-years.

i've always much preferred having my own .com webserve with seemingly unlimited space for sites and backup, email accounts, etc., for less than a MobileMe account. nicely integrated or not, 20GB file storage for what apple is charging is laughable.

I dig the rules, and the Archive button should be a dream; but how useful will the Archive button be if it's only on the web interface for now (i.e., not in Mail.app or Mail on the iPhone/iPad, which is where it would be sorely needed)?

I really hope we don't have to wait until 10.7 to get an upgrade to Mail.

If i remember the reports correctly, iphone os 4, when dealing with gmail, gives you an archive option. That option would simply need to be added to mail for MobileMe use.

Good to see Apple taking the Google route on this one, hope it will become a free service. Should be possible if it's integrated with iAd.

I hope Apple have learnt their lessons from the previous mobileMe circus.

Good to see Apple haven't forgotten MobileMe.
