Nice! I've been using it for a while, and the one thing I've wanted was server side filtering so I can have my mailing lists filtered to separate folders.

I use it simply because it makes syncing my iPad, iPod Touch, iPhone and MacBook easy both contacts.

Now this would be really awesome if they ended up making it free :D

This is great and all but I'd really like to see an update to the calendar function. The only reason we have mobileme is so that my wife and I can keep our Calendar synced between our iPods, her macbook, and my iMac. Plus the web access to the calendar is nice too. But it was a royal pain to get it all set up.

I recon they will move on to that next. It will be odd the Mail app having a different interface from everything else. They have probably learnt there lesson from the MobileMe launch and are going to work on them one by one and give them a proper beta test.

Lame

If they are going to continue to charge us, they need to give us better syncing, virtual music libraries, and a remote desktop client that is super easy to use. iChat is great as a vnc, but is one step away from total coolness. Also, a lot of MobileMe doesn't work inside a corporate firewall. It is just too clumsy. And where the hell did my bookmarks go? I cant just sync on every computer on the planet that I need to use here and there. Those bookmarks of old were life savers sometimes.

It's about time! I'm a happy user of mobile me, hence my signature of stuff. It helps me keep me sane in the insane world of college world and graduate school and work in nursing!

Nice to see they are finally working on it (wonder if they are using the new server farm?)

Appreciate any update and dont want to sound ungrateful but the features are a bit naff, the mail filtering should have always been there!!

As a trial user I would be happy to pay the current price to use my own domain email addy!!!!!! Apple need to realise that a lot of us have businesses and the .me addy is a bit gimmicky. I have had little probs with it and use it with 4 machines fine but the addy thing appears to be a common and obvious complaint everywhere I read about Mobile Me

Server side rules will be a big welcome addition for me...

BUT...

It won't really matter unless iPhone/iPad checks those folders and notifies the user if something new is in them.

Currently they don't when I have my Mac running at home as my "rules" machine. :|

finally!

I recently moved back to my MobileMe account after the Google Buzz nightmare. Enough was enough. The thing I missed the most though was server-side rules. I'd submitted feedback to Apple a few times about wanting these rules, as I'm sure many other did. It's fantastic to see they've finally caught up. I feel better about my move back to MobileMe.

i've always much preferred having my own .com webserve with seemingly unlimited space for sites and backup, email accounts, etc., for less than a MobileMe account. nicely integrated or not, 20GB file storage for what apple is charging is laughable.

I agree. I have used my own .com address for a while now and I couldn't be more satisfied. I have 280GB of free space that I can SMB of FTP into with great success, especially using FTP and Transmit. My boss and coworker have MM accounts and I don't see the value in the service... Other than it will sync address book and ical on all the connected devices on the fly. I just setup an OSX 10.6 Server to do the same thing.

The same could be said for mostly all of apple's products though, nothing new here.

X specs for what Apple is charging is laughable....... just insert any Apple product in the beginning of that sentence.

bug riddled launch, crappy performance, no SSL, no rules, etc. you gotta wonder how people tolerate MobileMe let alone pay for it.

If you wanna start the rumors (which I will because it's Macrumors) this could be prior to iPhone 4.0, the next-gen iPhone and the rumor of MobileMe becoming a free service.
In iChat you can currently only use MobileMe and AIM and Apple probably wants to get MobileMe out to more people for Videochat integration between iPhone and Mac.
Maybe Apple will roll out a free version of MobileMe for Mail and iChat (Videochat) purposes and a paid version with all the other features.

Exactly what I ws thinking. Except I am pretty sure iChat supports more than just MobileMe and AIM. I know I have used it with Gmail before.
But the improvement of MobleMe mail to me says that maybe the MobileMe going free might be true, but possibly only the mail component. I also wonder if the iPhone and Mac iChats will be able to talk to each other and if so will they port it to Windows? That could very well make video chat the real killer feature of the next iPhone.

Don't forget streaming your itunes library from north carolina too.
