THE comment of the day.It appears that the M1 chip still isn't powerful enough to support a calculator app for the iPad.
Or native calculator.... because that feat of engineering and porting from the iPhone is too hard.Still no weather app Seriously !?…….and Apple said last year that App Library and Home Screen widgets werent necessary. So that was a load of crap. Guess enough people complained.
THIS!!!There were only two things that I wanted and that were realistic:
1)desktop class multitasking
2)a non-gimped files app
Got neither.
Honestly the only thing that is of even a mild interest is the Quicknotes. Nothing else is of any use. Even the multitasking improvements are just a simpler way of what we can already do. Just slapped on.
M1 is wasted on the iPad
Yeah they took a step back this year. Had no hopes for iOS 15 and was still disappointed with how little changed. I had fairly high hopes for iPadOS 15 and was completely baffled with how they managed to bring so little to such a capable device. I hope iPad Pro sales tank this year and Apple realizes they have to offer more in the way of software to take advantage of it. Otherwise, who the hell buys a 16GB of RAM iPad Pro???Greetings to the usual suspects who were so fast to defuse critics with "bruh just wait for WWDC". Will they admit they were wrong, and those of us concerned about Apple not having a vision behind putting the M1 inside an iPad being proven right? Here's a big dish of "we told you so" to go with that koolaid.
Sad to see Apple being stuck in a literal infinite loop of meh iteration after meh iteration, and still not be able to deliver anything groundbreaking despite their unfathomable wealth, talent pool and capital.
Also validating my decision to go for a heavily discounted 2020 12.9" iPP from Amazon. Let's be honest though. It's still money inside Apple's pockets. What is an order of magnitude of FAIL is how aimless and derivative they managed to make their latest and greatest. After so many iterations it was high time for an actual revolution, especially now that iPads and Macs are using the same hardware! If Apple wanted to provide external validation for my decision not to upgrade from my 2020 iPad Pro, they couldn't have done a better job.
Hey but all those employees wrote that strongly worded letter to apple to let them remain working from home because they did the best work ever while at home. 😂Seems like Apple’s productivity went down the toilet during the pandemic. This iPadOS update is a joke. Apple, you really dropped this one, no excuses.
I mean, I can’t even… so disappointed.
Agreed. From the intro I could tell that Apple almost didn‘t even bother to try. Pretty boring stuff. I will be in no rush to update my devices in September, never mind trying the public beta, like I always have. This is the most disappointing Apple keynote I’ve ever seen. M1 with up to 16 GB RAM in the iPad Pro and they did absolutely nothing to take advantage of it. No pro apps. Not even real external display support or an update to files. Wow.
Seriously it’s ridiculousOr native calculator.... because that feat of engineering and porting from the iPhone is too hard.
Silver lining…..possibly…..is that with these lack of features means they will concentrate more on stability. It’s been terrible the last couple years.Agreed. I'd love pen support in MacOS as I do a lot of, among other things, PDF annotating on my iPad Pro. I'd love NOT having to reach for the iPad for such tasks but do everything on my Mac.Just a thought, but I’m wondering if Apple is truly being Apple and deliberately handicapping the iPad Pro with gimped OS in order to not completely lose most macOS users. They have made it clear they don’t want to merge the 2, but Jesus, they are just completely trashing the capabilities of the M1 iPad Pro. A 2019 iPad Air isn’t even challenged with iPadOS let alone any iPad Pro from 2017 and above.
Yeah I thought I was going to migrate to an iPad Pro permanently after school, but with how basic the software continues to be, probably not. I feel iPadOS 15 on the M1 iPad Pro is even more disappointing than iOS 11 was that launched on the 2018 iPad Pro.Yawn. This will be the last "pro" ipad I purchase. No point paying extra for the pro over the cheaper models since apple clearly is going to keep the software 3 steps behind the hardware.
