Apple Introduces New 'Creator Studio' Bundle of Apps for $129 Per Year

Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro alone on iPad are $4.99 a month each currently. Both on the Mac are a combined $500. And you get all those extra support modules for many programs and Pixelmator Pro. This rate seems pretty reasonable. As for people whining about subscriptions... Like streaming services, you can cancel any time if you are not using it. I already have Final Cut Pro Mac, but I bought it... Actually my wife bought it for me many years ago. It's been updated many times. So no big deal to pay a few bucks for even more development. Also... Oh noes! New icons! How will I do my work!?
On edit: Uh, this seems pretty good... Up to six family members can share all of the apps and content included in Apple Creator Studio with Family Sharing.

Stop repeating debunked theories. Google does not/will not have access to your information.

I'm not a creator so am looking forward to the reviews by creators to see if this is a good deal or not.

I guess even if you use logic pro and other associated audio apps, this sounds like you get a lot for not so much $.

Well, except if you want to own your software in perpetuity, you know, like an old unfashionable person (please note: sarcasm).

I know we're supposed to be Anti-Apple here, but I love this model/news.

For me, paying hundreds is a bit much (I'm young, student, don't have much money), so to be able to do a monthly that I can pause/resume when I want is great.

And best part is for those that prefer to pay all up-front, still can.

It's a win/win for everyone. But I know I know, apple is bad.

Can't say I love Apple embracing the Creative Cloud model.

I've been riding my one-time purchase of Final Cut Pro for quite a few years now. I'd bet money that they're going to turn it into a software rental only. Seems it's still available as a one-time purchase on the App Store, at least for now.

(They've been updating that same version I bought for free for like 6 years now, but if there was a one-time purchase update for FCP I would fork over money for it.)

Subscriptions are bad, be it month-to-month, or yearly.

First of all, in those announcements about the Google integration, it was literally stated that it’s all running through apples servers, not Google’s.
Unless you are suggesting that Google is just straight up lying to Apple, their consumers, and everyone involved, which… …I don’t think that Google is looking for a multi billion dollar lawsuit.
But secondly, it’s simple. If you don’t want the AI features, don’t pay for them. Or, don’t use them. Wow! Choice, it’s one hell of a thing isn’t it?

Bring back upgrade pricing. Apple is largely responsible for killing upgrade pricing by never introducing a proper way for devs to actually offer paid upgrades within the AppStore and now no one expects to ever have to pay for things... it's ludicrous.

My take aways:

The Liquid Glass icon massacre continues!

The new Pages icon looks less like a pen, and more like a stake like what Buffy the Vampire Slayer would use.

The new Pixelmator Pro icon seems to be focussed on vector graphics, in an app where raster graphics and image editing is the main draw.

Clarifications:

A lot of people need to re-read the article and/or the Apple News room announcement, because there's a lot of misinformation in this thread already.

Pages, Keynote, Numbers, and Freeform are still free and bundled with new device purchases. There are some AI-based features that are locked behind the subscription.

Apps can still be purchased individually at a one-time fee (where they could already, on the Mac at least).

Hooray, more subscriptions. Exactly what we all want right guys?

The way Apple is going, Siri and the like will be a subscription in the future, and then the ads will come shortly after…

If that’s where things are going guess I’m switching to Linux
