$5,600 for a 6900xt wrapped in an mpx module. I have been waiting for new cards to release for so long now for my mac pro. Those prices are just Dumb. I can build a beefy pc with 2 3090's inside for around 8k. Someone please help me out and explain the $5,600 price tag. When It will still get beat in Octane Render and Redshift by a 3090.

Hey Siri why are Quadro and Radeon Pro cards more expensive than Geforce and Radeon RX cards?

Siri: Because that’s how much Nvidia and AMD charges for extra features and RAM.

Have we checked all the boxes?
Apple pricing too high.
Isn’t this the same as card X?
No one needs these cards.
Useless because not NVIDIA.
I can build X for $Y. Hur hur.
Can it play <silly game>?
Patient and knowledgeable responses to the above.
This post making this observation.
What are we missing?

Anyone know why Apple doesn't use Nvidia?
Apple makes gpus so they might actually compete with nvidia at the 3090 level eventually. Also apple doesn't want people reliant proprietary apis like cuda, they would prefer if you used their proprietary api's or open standard api's.

Those are last generation (or older) GPU's! How can Apple get away with charging so much for old technology!

You forgot
“Still running on Intel, Apple pls use AMD Bongripper”

As always. The prices for those GPUs? Absurd. Let the company you work for pay for it, sure. Personally? Get your head examined. Unless you make more than $200,000 a year. If that’s the case? Well, I guess it’s fine.

Mac OS supports the regular 6900 XT also, have seen photos of them in Mac Pros.

I totally agree. The prices do not justify the power. I am a forever apple user but I might make the switch to pc after this. Maybe a dual w6900x for $5,600 but not just for one.

Yes, If I could find one for retail I would purchase 2 6900xt to add to my 2019 mac pro with a vega ll duo inside already. But, Apple is smart they know you can not find them and I bet I could order these modules from apple today once they put them in the mac components page and have it in a week.

How are you blowing $8K on a PC build with two 3090s? Each 3090 FE is $1500 x 2 = $3000 so your total PC build is ~$5000.

Look up how to score in an AMD.com drop. They release inventory most Thursdays, I got my 6900 XT the first week I tried.

Excited this is finally live! I have been testing the AMD Reference 6900XT vs the Vega ii Duo, W5700x, etc.

The 6900xt is a huge performance gain over even the Vega ii, in most tasks like FCP and Resolve.

I personally opted for the W6800x DUO - I think this is the best price to performance option here imo, and you can have two of them, linked via infinity fabric for a total of 4 GPUs.

I am a little bit perplexed at the pricing on the W6900x - one of those is more than the double the priece of the W6800x Duo, and I don't think it would really be faster. Two vs two yes, but not one vs two duos.

In theory 2 W6900x for a Final Cut user will be the fastest of course, but if you can utilize 4 GPU, then for similar price you can get 4 W6800. (Not useful for FCP, but Resolve can use 4 GPUs, Octane, etc.

Plus, two GPUs in one is just awesome in terms of the hardware tech.

The better deal is getting the dual 6800x, as 2 of those (4 GPUs) will be faster overall than 2 6900Xs; I will probably pull the trigger on the Dual 6800x, but may just go the single route since anything is going to hammer my current 580x into the dirt.

Another thing worth mentioning is that it appears that you can actually get these cards; site shows delivery of mid August. Veteran price is $4500 for dual 6800x.

That's what I figured too, the W6800 Duo seems like the best balance. W6900x is spicy with the price for sure
