Man I would have liked one of these when doing post on my feature last year…
$5,600 for a 6900xt wrapped in an mpx module. I have been waiting for new cards to release for so long now for my mac pro. Those prices are just Dumb. I can build a beefy pc with 2 3090's inside for around 8k. Someone please help me out and explain the $5,600 price tag. When It will still get beat in Octane Render and Redshift by a 3090.
Apple makes gpus so they might actually compete with nvidia at the 3090 level eventually. Also apple doesn't want people reliant proprietary apis like cuda, they would prefer if you used their proprietary api's or open standard api's.Anyone know why Apple doesn't use Nvidia?
Those are last generation (or older) GPU's! How can Apple get away with charging so much for old technology!Have we checked all the boxes?
Apple pricing too high.
Isn’t this the same as card X?
No one needs these cards.
Useless because not NVIDIA.
I can build X for $Y. Hur hur.
Can it play <silly game>?
Patient and knowledgeable responses to the above.

What are we missing?
You're comparing the price of building a PC to purchasing a Mac Pro and then purchasing the 6800/6900 separately. Those prices are just Dumb. I can build a beefy pc with 2 3090's inside for around 8k.
The drivers were in 11.4This means the drivers will be put into Monterey .
Great News for Hackintosh users.

Mac OS supports the regular 6900 XT also, have seen photos of them in Mac Pros.$5,600 for a 6900xt wrapped in an mpx module. I totally agree. The prices do not justify the power. I am a forever apple user but I might make the switch to pc after this. Maybe a dual w6900x for $5,600 but not just for one.As always. The prices for those GPUs? Absurd. Let the company you work for pay for it, sure. Personally? Get your head examined. Unless you make more than $200,000 a year. If that’s the case? Well, I guess it’s fine.
Yes, If I could find one for retail I would purchase 2 6900xt to add to my 2019 mac pro with a vega ll duo inside already. But, Apple is smart they know you can not find them and I bet I could order these modules from apple today once they put them in the mac components page and have it in a week.Mac OS supports the regular 6900 XT also, have seen photos of them in Mac Pros.

Look up how to score in an AMD.com drop. They release inventory most Thursdays, I got my 6900 XT the first week I tried.Yes, If I could find one for retail I would purchase 2 6900xt to add to my 2019 mac pro with a vega ll duo inside already. How are you blowing $8K on a PC build with two 3090s? Each 3090 FE is $1500 x 2 = $3000 so your total PC build is ~$5000.
Heck yes, Going to try this. what time do they release on Thursday?Look up how to score in an AMD.com drop. They release inventory most Thursdays, I got my 6900 XT the first week I tried.
Both of which are running 3x to 4x their MSRP during the pandemicI'm happy with my reference 6900xt at $999 but the sweet spot is the $579 6800.
Usually between 10-11 AM eastern. There is a Discord server called "Falcodrin" that is very helpful, there are instructions in its #amd channel. I'm not sure whether Macrumors rules allow linking but it should be easy to Google.Heck yes, Going to try this. what time do they release on Thursday?
Try once a month or less and that inventory is sold out within an hour when they randomly drop listingsLook up how to score in an AMD.com drop. They release inventory most Thursdays, I got my 6900 XT the first week I tried.
That's what I figured too, the W6800 Duo seems like the best balance. W6900x is spicy with the price for sureThe better deal is getting the dual 6800x, as 2 of those (4 GPUs) will be faster overall than 2 6900Xs; I will probably pull the trigger on the Dual 6800x, but may just go the single route since anything is going to hammer my current 580x into the dirt.
Another thing worth mentioning is that it appears that you can actually get these cards; site shows delivery of mid August. Veteran price is $4500 for dual 6800x.
