Not really. All you have to do is put your date forward two weeks. It’ll let you start the update on LTE. Once the update starts downloading, set date back to automatic. You are full of it

Yeah I have caps on my home internet not Verizon. It’s Comcastic!Sorry, but there is absolutely no urgency to do that on a data plan. That’s what Wifi at home with your iPhone plugged in on a night stand overnight is for.
I still don't like it. And I guess if this is indeed the case, maybe the carriers paid off Apple to put these restrictions in place. There's likely carrier involvement and them not wanting to take a hit on their network bandwidth when a lot of devices might be downloading larger downloads simultaneously.
It will most likely be the same as when LTE came. It was true unlimited included at first, and then you either had to pay or be capped, and then it went to just capped tiersBut, will 5G plans include data caps? That is a huge capital expense on Verizon's part...that i would think the shareholders would expect it to be recouped.....just a thought.
Why would any sane person use a carrier with data caps to begin with? Why would any sane person blow past your data caps for an iOS update?
Availability of viable options? Why would any sane person use a carrier with data caps to begin with?
Well, it's more likely that there were agreements that had to be reached. The main point there is that it might not really be ultimately up to Apple to somehow arbitrarily come up with it all or modify it.I still don't like it. And I guess if this is indeed the case, maybe the carriers paid off Apple to put these restrictions in place.
Not everyone has WiFi access at home. It is nice for people of different needs and wants to have a new option that doesn’t affect you.Sorry, but there is absolutely no urgency to do that on a data plan. That’s what Wifi at home with your iPhone plugged in on a night stand overnight is for.
My 6s with failing battery managed to upgrade to 14.1 without totalling killing the battery. And it was only something like 50% when I started.my thoughts exactly. And kill your battery while you’re at it!
True, but you can go to star bucks and use their WiFi if you must update; or even the public library. Not everyone has WiFi access at home. It is nice for people of different needs and wants to have a new option that doesn’t affect you.
Well, on a similar note, you can also get up and walk over to a TV each time you want to change the volume, but that doesn't mean that it isn't better to have a remote control to do it.True, but you can go to star bucks and use their WiFi if you must update; or even the public library.
I'm on unlimited Max and don't appear to have suffered any speed caps.Vodafone have speed caps though
I’m with three and have uncapped unlimited for £23 a month, with free upgrade to 5G on true unlimited
They will. The whole indusrty needs regulation. They should never be allowed to use the term unlimited if it isn't.Management at AT&T probably complain about your downloading a movie as well. 😁
Canada doesn't have 300+ million people to clog it all up and there aren't many moose or polar bears with cell phones either. This is so US centric. Here in Canada, LTE networks are fas enough to enable all of that. Ugh.

sure. That’s much more convenient than just downloading it wherever you are.True, but you can go to star bucks and use their WiFi if you must update; or even the public library.
Of course, people can charge their phones at the same time. Indeed, people do that on WiFi too.

Not saying 5G won’t be better (it will) but that 4G is pretty good right now in the right circumstances. In my case it has replaced a lousy fixed line (FTTC) and is 3-15 times quicker and more reliable.More available bandwidth and faster speeds? Seems like carriers might have a say in it all as well.
