Good to know that my ipad Pro is now just an ipad Air with faceID
Currently have a 9.7" Pro but I'd jump to an Air at this point when it comes time for replacement, no specific use-case for the iPad Pro.
This puts the iPad Pro in an awkward position. Desperately needing an update.
Notice the conspicuous lack of benchmarking of the A14 to the A12... Does this mean iPad Air can outperform the Pro? Pro just has ProMotion and FaceID?
I'm super confused as to their plan for FaceID vs TouchID now. Face ID is a pro-level only product? But is found on the "base" iPhone?

I guess for Pro Motion and Face ID? But yeah, doesn’t seem worth another $200.
My daughter did that with the prior gen air and is happy... i'm irked because of longevity. But oh well, will see what happens next months with the phone and maybe Pro's. I've got a 12.9 2nd gen i want to update (screen is delaminating)
This is pretty impressive for an Air. Almost makes my 2020 Pro look obsolete! The A14 will surely be faster than A12Z no?
I'd get the new Air to replace my 10.5 pro, but I'm just not sure I can give up Pro Motion.
This is going to hit the sweet spot features and design-wise for a LOT of people.

Benchmarks like this are easy enough to falsify, though the listing placed the A14's multicore score at 4,612 points which, as AppleInsider notes, is even better than the 4,568-point result from the A12X processor in the 12.9-inch iPad Pro.
Don’t think so. the Z has 8 graphic cores, the A14 itself has 4 for example
But that it will be a great chip is certain.

Need more info. Does it still come with only 64 gigs base? Only 3 gigs ram still? Obviously it does not have a 120 screen. And it's 100 bucks more than the Air 3. Until I read more details I can think of a few reasons to still get the pro.

I wonder if this means a bigger update coming to the iPad Pro in the spring. Maybe the 11” goes away, 12.9” drops to 799 and a 15”(?) is added at 999?
So the iPad Pro is now 2 generations older than the air.....why? Also, why does the standard iPad exist? I completely forgot before today that there are FOUR iPad models. Insane.

Still see the old Air on the Apple site, surprised it isn't live already. Even clicking on View more info on the main page tile for the new Air takes me to the old one. If I didn't have a Pro already this would be my new iPad. If it were $100 cheaper, it would be perfect IMO.
they are blurring the lines between different iPad models. pencil only used to work on pro. air used to imply light weight. Not sure how the product lines interact any more

No headphone jack. Incredibly disappointing. This would be a buy otherwise.
