The flicker that they're talking about, is this a noticible flicker, or the PWM that's aggravating everyones' eyes?
Noticeable. It flickers the pixels on and off sometimes, sometimes it remains grey instead of off and sometimes is turns them off after some seconds.

There is also a STRANGE issue with the camera lenses in dark areas... you get a bunch of blue dots. I'll upload an example later, but my fiancees pro then pro max and my pro max all did it.

Other than maybe video game consoles, have there ever been devices with such massive releases as there are smartphones like iPhones and those made by Samsung and the like?

Defects are bound to happen.

I bought an unlocked phone, and just put the sim in from my 11. My cell service was almost non-existent until I got a 5G sim card. Was not aware that was going to be an issue.
I've had no issues on T-Mobile with just putting in my old SIM and being up and running. Sounds like a provider-specific issue?

Also, coming from an XR, this antenna is way better. Now at home I get 1-2 bars normally when before it was 0-1 (I manage to live in a weak zone for all 3 major U.S. providers).

Returned my iPhone 12 because of this, i felt like this was affecting battery life too.

When I first saw iPhone 12, I knew there is something fishy going on

I find the yellow issue on my 12 mini is from true tone, as soon as I toggle it off the yellow goes away, could be a software fix coming

This sounds like an issue with new cellphone cameras industry wide. Light kicks, dots, stripes.... lots of photos floating around from both iPhone and Samsung phones.

If you can rule that out as the problem, go to Apple and exchange your phone.

Is it me or has this release been unusually problematic? Compared to the near flawless release of the 11 series last year it's kind of disappointing.

So glad I'm skipping this year.

I got a piss yellow 11 Pro Max in January of this year. Its replacement was better but still yellow. I think this year it has only gotten more aggressive with the problem but it was definitely there last year.

My wife has iPhone 10Max and I have iPhone 11 Pro Max; True Tone is off on both phones.

We have the same issues, green and yellow tint; Notifications and other info at the tope of the phones is blurred;

Only thing that has fixed bot phones is to do a hard Restart

In the document, shared with Apple Authorized Service Providers this week, Apple says that it is aware of customer reports related to this issue and is investigating. Apple has advised technicians to avoid servicing affected iPhones, at least for now, and instead inform customers that they should keep their iPhone up to date with the latest iOS version. This guidance suggests that Apple may be confident that it can fix the issue in a future software update.

A similar green tinted display issue affected some iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max models, and Apple was able to fix it in iOS 13.6.1.

The green tint display issue wasn't this, it was weird uniformly green tint on the screen as a software bug triggered from a specific activity like unlocking the device from what I recall that was around iOS 13.5, not a problem at launch.

this looks like poor panels in circulation , since not all are impacted. If it's an LG or BOE issue (not saying it is, no idea what's in my 12 pro but it looks great), heads will roll. Not sure how software is gonna patch it up

I am interested to see where this goes, since Apple has acknowledged it now albeit seemingly internally only

What happens if apple can’t fix these yellow/green tint dull contrast (iPhone 12 pro max) screens via a software update?

Really not enjoying using night mode at the moment, the yellow/green tint stands out like dog balls, especially at night. 😐

That’s horrible

dark mode on a good oled is such a joy with perfect blacks and nice enough greys

I would imagine their acknowledgment will stay internal and not be a PR statement or extended warranty. Right now seems like no service / stand still is the path. I wouldn’t be exactly comforted by it haha

It’s not an issue. I don’t have a 5G sim and don’t live in a 5G area. My LTE coverage has improved dramatically and even the same LTE speeds went from 60Mbs to 180Mbs with my iPhone 12.

So no. It’s clearly not a blanket issue that affects everyone.

Apple suggesting that it's a software issue that will be fixed is reassuring.

My display is mostly great. When viewing a really dark gray image under minimal brightness, color uniformity is nearly perfect.

The only issue I've had with my 12 Pro is the "flicker" when viewing pure black images & video (#000000).

Is your 5G modem having yellow/green tint issues. 🤔🤦‍♂️😂

(#000000).

That’s great if it works, but that’s one part of the problem, what about the yellow/green tint affecting grey colors, and the aggressive yellow tint when using dark mode.

I think that’s a gamble too honestly

both best radio I’ve used and best iPhone screen I’ve seen in my unit. Ever.

i have zero signal or screen fidelity issues

big ymmv tho

People are saying this would take care of the yellow tint but I’m not so sure. I have perfect deep blacks on my 12 Pro Max but also have a super yellow tinted screen. I’m on my 6th day with the phone and it’s still awful to look at.
You have perfect deep blacks at any brightness less than 50% or so? Late at night in a dark room (i.e., right before bed) I have the raised blacks issue on my 12 Pro Max and it's infuriating. At 100% brightness, any black areas will turn the pixels completely off, but if you bring the brightness down, they then turn on again like an LED screen. I've saved a perfectly black PNG to photos and have tried this (all pixels turn off completely at 100% brightness but at 0% brightness for example you can see all the pixels are still on. Just below the sun, I can force the green tint issue, somewhere around 10-20% brightness I reckon.).

Apollo for reddit also has a pure black OLED theme which looked fantastic on my old XS Max (they did have to shift it slightly to compensate for streaking) and now on the 12 Pro Max, it looks horrendous without the black pixels turning fully off.
