Since Apple acknowledged this issue, it seems rather wide-spread. This makes me question whether this never happened with prototypes during development process...? Even some new iPhone owners with iOS 9 are experiencing this.

Maybe because there's a reason for our hate. This is not the same apple we had 3 years ago. That was actually a company worth buying from. Nowadays, everything they make s garbage.
Simple go some where else to buy if your not happy!!!!

The Ipad Pro wasn't designed to be chargeable. With an unapologetically outstanding 10h of battery life, the Ipad Pro will last you for months before needing to be recycled. If for some reason your Ipad Pro runs out of battery life, all have you to do is go to the apple store to buy a new one :), enjoy!

It's not a universal problem. I haven't experienced any issues with charging/waking the Pro, including long overnight charges.
I charge my Pro every night, overnight 8-10 hrs., and LUCKILY I do not have this problem. So not everyone has this problem as you've stated.

Apple will soon state that people are charging it wrong and turning the iPad off incorrectly. Seriously, Apple is no different than microsoft when it comes to excuses. Apple hate to admit their flaws...
Force restart is the method I use for my Windows products and my new MacBook 2015.

Really? Then why did they bother posting this in their support document?

They're clearly stating something is wrong and they're looking for a solution. I don't see how that qualifies as hating to admit their flaws.
You tell me...in regards bend-gate.

Considering this issue exists for iPhones using iOS 9 as well, it's about freakin time. This has been an issue for a month.
My stepdaughter and I, at least, have been having problems with iOS 9 freezing up and she has an iPhone 6Plus. Not totally freezing up, but momentarily freezing. My phone since the update is missing Siri and Safari. They are just not there! I guess it's time to flatten and reload. Another issue is transferring songs via wifi from iTunes. It takes FOREVER now. Anyway, it's the new norm. Expect problems. Then fix the problems and find new ones.

This really has nothing to do with the problem at hand, but whenever a company says that they're "investigating" a problem, I imagine the employees dressed up in the stereotypical detective gear, inspecting the product with magnifying glasses.

They sent out a support document. They admitted there's a problem. They're looking into a fix.

Enough of this non-stop Apple hating already. Some of you just wait for any article to throw in any irrelevant blind criticism you can think of.

Some are just jealous that they don't have one yet ;)

I had the problem and it went away after installing iOS 9.2 Public Beta 4. It does appear to be a software issue. I'm loving my iPad pro and recently acquired Apple Pencil!

Mine has been charged 3 times and no issues . So not everyone's models are affected.

The problem is that people have one more week in which to return their devices, and chance getting a model without the issue.

Having just spent £1100+ this support document is worthless to me. It's like the ageless Helpdesk support joke, have your turned it on and off?

We could be looking into another situation where apple has used different hardware from suppliers, and hence only certain models are effected.

After 14 days your return rights are gone, i would require more than just reboot it support to keep an effected model. The iPad pro is a lot of money, laptop territory.

I wouldn't say their stuff is all garbage these days, but there does seem to be more and more buggy products and less innovations/excitement these days.

I have been a long time Apple fan. I have purchased few dozen Apple products, and I used to recommend Apple products to my friends and family members.

But I agree, it seems like the past couple years Apple products and software has taken a turn. I use Apple today, and Probably a month from now, but in the next few years, who knows?

That said, I think this issue would be annoying, but will most likely be fixed soon. Especially since Apple has acknowledged it.

I have had the same exactly problem with my iPad 4 one time after I upgrade it at IOS 9.1. I never had this problem in the past with my 2013 iPad. For this reason I think that this a software problem of IOS 9.

I have charged my 128GB Space Gray WiFi model twice and had this bug twice. I noticed that it's fine until it hits 100%. Leave it plugged in much longer after it hits 100% and then the screen will stay black until you do a reset.

On a side note...I know Apple wanted to get this out for the holiday season, but the lack of availability of Pencils and Smart Keyboards along with the troubles with the iPad Pro smells to me like they rushed this out a bit.

no pens and keyboard screams rushed product, with this charging issue and a recall coming, a very un-Jobs Apple product launch

I think there are a few things to consider with regards to Apple dropping the ball slightly:
1. Are they now diversifying into too many products and are unable to sustain the high levels of quality we used to know?
2. Are peoples expectations not partly to blame due to the general public wanting to see not only significant yearly updates but the constant need to have innovative products?
3. Technology is moving at a far more rapid pace than it has ever done with no signs of slowing down, all technology companies are struggling to meet peoples expectations.

My opinion is technology cannot continue at its current rate and at some point will need to slow down to give people breathing space. It will continue to thrive, progress and develop as it should but the pace needs to slow down.

Recommends Restart as Interim Fix, so what are the non-recommended ways?

Throw it in the garbage.
Use a surface 4
Sell it....

don't get me started.

Not unusual for a beta product. Do not buy until 2nd gen.

Apple is on it (hence the support document) and they'll fix it.

It's just not a perfect world.
