Ahhh, yes...the plight of early adopters. Although, I totally agree that it sucks to spend at least $800 + tax on this thing and have to do a hard reset pretty much every time you charge the device to 100%.

The early adopters remark always makes me grin. It's hardly a brand new device such as the Apple Watch. It sounds as though the issue is software related and as long as it's not bricking your iPad it's hardly a massive problem.

I'm going to go all out here. I'm sure this will be my last post as I'll be kicked off this board. Why all the apple bashers and posters of absolute stupidity will be allowed to stay is beyond me. Well, not really. The owners simply want posting numbers even if their forums now have a very bad reputation as a place to whine and complain instead of providing useful information.

Huh. How silly of you.

They why did they publish a support document? Apple is much better than most companies with regard to fixing issues. But the apple haters refuse to see that.

Apple does have an idea. And they will find the solution despite your desire to have then NOT find the solution. The longer it takes apple to solve the issue, the more opportunities you apple bashers will have to spend your lives reading this forum and complaining and bashing apple. And when it's fixed, you will still find a way to waste your lives bashing apple.

Is this really the most clever thing you can come up with??? You aren't too smart, are you?

I charge my 6s plus every night. I've NEVER had this freeze.

You don't even try to couch your ill conceived and blind hatred into something slightly palatable. You hate apple, their products and their users. You are incredibly ignorant and mean spirited.

Aren't you the idiot for wasting your time here and for buying apple products? Or are you just on an idiot one man crusade to hurt apple? Walked into an apple store the other day. Packed with people who appreciate apple products and also understand that apple isn't perfect, but are better than most. You are a complete buffoon.

Steve Jobs was not a god. And not one of you really know what he would have done if he were still alive.

You seem to be a very unimaginative follower if that's the best you can come up with.

Ha, ha , ha, very funny. You should have your very own HBO stand up comedy special.

Then get a pc and go away.

Bye all. Enjoy the absolute stupidity and uselessness of this forum thank to the abundance of idiots here that the mods obviously enjoy having around.

PS. At least I used the multi quote so I can't be condemned for that.

This post will probably get reported and deleted since you called someone an idiot. But I agree 100% with every comment. The forums are full of whiners and complainers. All the mods care about anymore are ads, clicks, and sales. If it's a controversial subject sure to get hits? Post it and let the members bicker, whine, complain and argue all day long. I long for the old days of MR before I even became a member.

I hate buggy software/hardware. HATE IT! And yet, as a developer, I know how hard it is to get things perfect, and it allows me to show some level of compassion. Additionally, after comparing things, I am still willing to spend on Apple, even with the few bugs, over just about anything else in the space. Not into Android, Windows, etc. So, yes apple please make every effort to fix this issue and prevent any future ones. But please do not listen to the haters here.
I can't agree with you more. The fact is that change will always create bugs. Even small changes, even changes meant to fix other things. Software development is really difficult in that aspect. You fix one bug and introduce 17 more. You are constantly working to support more features that user can't live without and then do that without introducing any new bugs and keeping everyone happy by not changing things too much.

I spend 90% of my time fixing bugs in my software and will knock myself out and not sleep to get rid of them. But what counts if who's behind the software. If this were an Android manufacturer, they would probably say "meh" and just start a new device. Don't expect updates and don't expect things to be fixed. Apple will have this patched in less than a month and if it's a hardware issue... they will swap out for a new one.

Software is hard. And QA is really, really hard.

From the reports, it sounds like the problem is when you restore the iPad Pro from a backup. The obvious question for me is: how old are those backups? Is it a backup from an iphone that was put on an iPad? Or from an iPad 4 to and iPad air 2 to an iPad pro?

Given that the iPad Pros tend to be early adopters, I'll bet these backups have been from at least two devices (iPad 2 -> iPad Air -> iPad Pro). The horror is that they might be from an iPad 1 -> iPad Air -> iPad Pro.

This is why supporting products for a really long time is problematic: QA really has to test every permutation at some level.

Yeah, it's happened to me both times I charged it over night.
Good thing the battery is so awesome that I only had to charge it twice in 5 days I have owned it.
I used it extensively yesterday. Probably the longest I have ever been on any device/computer in my life. Went to bed and still had 38% battery life.

I stopped by at Apple Store to check out the new iPad Pro. There were 7, and one was off (or not waking up). I did a hard reset, and the iPad was working again.

Recommends Restart as Interim Fix, so what are the non-recommended ways?

I am sorry that folks are having difficulties with their iPad Pros. When you spend $800 on an item it is natural to expect it to work properly. I bought my 32Gb WiFi iPad Pro on the first day they were sold and have charged it twice. I have had none of the difficulties experienced by others owners. Here is what I have done to charge the device:
  1. Use the provided wall charger and lightning cable.
  2. Switch off the screen of the iPad Pro but don't turn off the device completely.
  3. Plus in the lightning cable and leave the iPad to charge.
  4. Switch on the screen periodically to check when it has charged to 100%, and then turn it off.
  5. When the charge has got to 100%, remove the lightning cable, and start using the iPad.

I still sync the unit through iTunes, but I don't charge it through the USB connection to my Mac - I charge it through the mains (electricity) supply from my wall socket.

Ha ha now that is funny, I guess the staff did not get the support memo :p

I should have asked the staff why this iPad was off, but I went into the Apple Store while my gf was at a different store. So I didn't have much time to play around.

One of our members actually asked (or confronted) the Apple Store staff about demo iPhone that was not waking up at the store. Apparently the staff went straight ahead to reset the device. So I'm sure the staff is well aware of this issue...

That is true. I just found it amusing that a member of public were fixing the demo models and we are discussing the issue on MR

Welcome to Tim Cook's Apple.

It Just Works no longer applies.
  1. Tim Cook's Apple is going off in all different directions and the lack of focus is starting to show. We got an under-powered 12 Macbook instead of a retina display for the MB Air. The Watch launch was a disaster with no product available for months...a far too heavy focus on fashion instead of technology.... The yearly updates on OS's don't seem to be working out that well either. El Capitan is buggy as hell...and now we have a really big iPad that cannot "replace" a laptop and needs to be restarted just to get it to work. Don't get me wrong, I love  products - but I feel like quality is taking a back seat to profits under Cook.:(
