Welcome to Tim Cook's Apple.

It Just Works no longer applies.

There seems a huge level of arrogance from Apple these days. They keep releasing products which appear to have some kind of a problem on release and then they just expect us to be happy because eventually there will be a fix. They are counting on customer loyalty based on past glories but as new customers come in and experience these frustrations one can't but wonder how far this brand loyalty will stretch beyond the fanboys who will adore anything Apple puts out faulty or not. I've always had an iPhone and currently have 6s but it has been a disappointment with superficial gimmicks one will never use such as live photos (how many actually enjoy those?) & even force touch which one rarely has the need to use and it merely makes it harder to delete apps....

Agreed. Why every time an article is posted there are a bunch of Mac hate posts. If you despise the products and company so much go find the cool Microsoft rumor sites :D

Count me in on this one. I couldn't remember what to do so I pulled up the article on my phone :D
Hard reset worked. Hope is it just a software fix.

PS I forced myself to use the ipad excusively yesterday and it worked - no imac, no surface pro. Same today except I have to have the kindle up on something to write because Amazon has not enabled split screen yet.

You seem to be confusing "hate posts" with differing opinions and valid criticism. This appears to be a common trait appearing these days. If you don't like to read different opinions and any negativity what-so-ever, you might try conversing with a mirror instead of a public forum. I'm sure you will find more agreement and no negativity what-so-ever there unless you generate it yourself. ;)

I am all for a great discussion both on the positives and the negatives. I would guess few making judgments here even own an iPad pro, I do. They got so much right with this device, especially the split screen. However, They are going to have to figure out a way to filter all of the apps available for split screen because the list is monstrous right now.

However this quote appears earlier in the discussion that prompted me to make such a comment.
Laptop replacement (for most people) my ***.

That was the entire post. Hardly someone offering a different opinion.

Yes, I would really like a way to only show apps available for split screen that I want to see, or maybe a folder system. OMG there I went and said it :p

I get a charge out of reading comments on this subject.

i know. this is probably like 1/100th of 1% of the units out there but folks just can't help making every little thing that is even slightly negative and about apple into this huge stink so every thing comes off like this huge issue. cries of '****** quality' and 'manufacturing defect' abound when its probably just a software bug that will be fixed in a week and until then is having to do a restart really that big of a damn deal

As I've reported in these forums had out of the box issues with the iPad Air2 and the rMB (wherein I put many hours into trying to fix their problems). BTW I've owned Apple products since the //+, and I am a total fanboy. But.....

Luckily my iPP has not shown these problems. If there is such a small percentage of iPad Pros having issues, and they are demonstrable, then I think that anyone having the problem should be able to walk into the Apple Store and have them replace it with in stock. But Apple doesn't like to do that. They would rather the buyer spend a lot of time until they can figure out a work around and not have to deal with selling refurbished products.

It of course doesn't seem to be a big deal, until you are the owner of a defective and expensive device. If you are an owner I think most would not be so ho-hum about it.

Actually they do. They even have a whole office that receives those items to analyze them.

That's part of the big joke. Most of the folks on places like discussions.apple.com gripe and whine about what junk their whatever is, how they have bought this and that other thing and it was junk also. how apple only makes junk these days. which begs the question why they still buy from apple if its such junk. but more important is when they are asked why they didn't return their whatever if it wasn't working 3 days out of the box they can't give a logical reason. They say they couldn't be bothered, or they figure they will get one that is just as much junk or worse, or they bought it online and it will be a month before they can get a replacement. heck if its not working why does that matter, get your money back if nothing else. its not like Apple charges an open box fee, you have nothing to lose by returning than losing a piece of junk

They would not replace my iPad Air 2 with stock in store until I went through hours of reinstalls and trips to Apple Store and many Apple Care calls. They never replaced my rMB. I had to tough it out until an OSX upgrade seemed to sort it out. So if they are now swapping out troublesome iPPs then this is good welcomed news. The question remains how much effort on the part of the buyer is required before Apple replaces a defective device? Note I always buy Apple Care.

If I spent that kind of money on this thing and this happened? I would be beyond fuming.
you should definitely start looking for opportunities to sell the stocks you own, cos this company is going nowhere. When a company updates/introduces a product, one expects at least one of the following: stability and/or new features. With Apple, it more often than not also comes with taste. Under Cook, we will get used to getting NEITHER.

Are we suppose to like EVERYTHING that APPLE do? Really?
No. But do you think hating every little thing is representative of the real world? Of course not. But it is representative of some very small and spiteful minds around here.

Yup. And that can really bring down a forum. As the signal to noise ratio goes down, the ones looking for interesting conversation will go away.

Well, if people want to hate for whatever reason let them hate. We can't tell them what to do.

I have just experienced the same thing with the iPad Air, which was plugged to charge and not in use. When I tried "waking it up" by pressing the home button, nothing happened, but after the hard restart - all back to normal. Most likely the software (9.1) issue, as I have never experienced it before, whereas all the iPad Pros came out with it pre-installed, hence their higher "contamination" rate.

i agree with you sir

sounds like you are talking about items that were weeks outside of the return period. The iPad Pros are not. That newness changes the rules of the game. Excuse me for not saying IF YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT AN IPAD PRO THAT YOU JUST BOUGHT LAST WEEK but I would have thought that would have been clear from what I quoted.

I can confirm this is happening to me. Holding home and power for 10 seconds fixes it. It's not every time, it's intermittent but a fix would be nice.

I experienced the problem for the first time today. The ipad was totally dead. A hard reset was necessary. I charged the iPad in the past without a problem. This time, it stayed connected for a day or so after being fully charged. Maybe that is the problem.
Until dear Apple finds a solution, I wil try to recharge to less than 100% and see what happens.

Laptop replacement (for most people) my ass.
U are right. it will never replace a laptop cause iOS is just weak and limited.
Size doesn't matter in this case. This is just a bigger iPhone/iPad. Websites see it as a mobile device, not a computer cause it really can't do half of what a real Mac can.
I still love my new iPad Pro but it won't replace a Mac Book.
I wish someone found a way to hack Mac OS X into it.

I just bought my second iPad Pro and immediately had this problem. So in my book that's 50% of iPad Pros. And it just locked up again, twice in less than an hour. Completely unacceptable that this happens with a $1200 "pro" device. I checked the Apple forums and there was page after page of this issue.

I agree with a lot of people posting here, Apple products used to just work. Seems that Jobs wasn't just another business man like Cook seems to be. All it seems like you ever see him do is raise his arms like some silly victory gesture, like he's celebrating another billion dollars of net worth while we have to fight with poor quality control issues like this.

If Android devices weren't such crap, this would be my last Apple product, and I'm sure I'm not alone.

Agreed. Been using apple products since 1980. I'll keep it short but will give examples. iOS music is a mess with too many options. iTunes as well.

Also my phone lost Safari and Siri. Yesterday I did reset. Safari and Siri came back.

However iOS could not find any app when searching phone.

Do you know the solution to fix? Apple forum member said send an iCloud email to yourself and the problem is fixed. Weird solution but it worked!

The bad part? This solution had been up on Apple forums for a YEAR and the problem is alleged to be months older.

This is bad.

Also my MacBook 2015 sometimes does not wake from sleep and wifi seems to go out periodically.

Also our appletv reboots frequently where watching Netflix. I stopped using it. Irritating. And when it reboots you have to reboot it again to get it working properly. And no YouTube on appletv 2 (also you can see autocorrect did not properly capitalize appletv. Sad sad sad.

I've been telling you, and I'll say it again:

This is Tim Cook's Apple. "It Just Works" is a thing of the past. Such a shame that every release is riddled with bugs that shouldn't be there no matter if it's hardware, software, or an OS. Apple's QC has gone done the crapper. It's getting ridiculous.

Sad, but true about Tim Cook's Apple. I won't go into my woes between September and December of 2015 as they've been well documented here, but the Quality Control is ridiculous; the software has been particularly bad since October 2013...

It's a shame some purchasers of the iPad Pro are still having this issue. I hope it's sorted fast.
