Will this be the last generation of Macs?

Mac mini = DEAD
Mac Pro = DEAD
(non-retina)MBP = DEAD
Macbook Air = DEAD

Only iMac, MacBook and (retina) MacBook Pro will be updated.

And Apple's making commercials about how iPad Pro is the new computer. So, is Apple planning on killing the Mac?

I just wish Tim Cook would retire and end this nightmare. The man has destroyed Apple :(

BTW... "Hello Again".. (!!!!)

"hello again"?? That's a pretty bold tagline to use, harking back to the iMac introduction in 1998 and the Mac in 1984... surely they don't have anything _that_big up their sleeve for the Mac, do they?

In-house CPUs which smoke any quad-core Intel on the market today. They've been building towards this for a long time. The culmination of Jobs' vision.

It's been four years since redesign iMac, so maybe...but still the MacBook Pros too.

"announcing the brand new macbrook pro with the latest 2015 skylake chips, now comes with 64gb of internal storage to save storage space"

Yep.

The rest of the industry has been pushing ahead with convergence between tablets and laptops, with better and better touchscreens, and virtually every major laptop manufacturer has introduced "touch-id" years ago....

But this year for Apple a fingerprint scanner and USB-C will be the pinnacle of innovation.

If I was not so heavily invested in the platform, I'd have jumped ship by now. :(

One of the things rumoured is a MacBook Pro with an OLED touch bar at the top of the keyboard. The image Apple sent out has a vibrant Apple logo with parts being completely black, just like how it would look on an OLED display. So we can say at least that much.

Because after removing the headphone jack, Apple will remove the SHIFT and CAPS LOCK keys.

Caps Lock key is definitely one of the most useless keys available. For its size and where it is located on the board, you'd think it would be something useful. Rather, it's a complete waste of prime real estate. I've actually changed it to a control/double-tap to escape key.

Edit: I know you were just making a joke, just felt like a proper time to convey my dislike of the caps lock key.

Although, come to think of it, the iMac brand is now older than the Mac brand was when the iMac was announced, so a thorough revamp would make some sense. Strange, it doesn't feel that old at all to me.

That really is a pretty significant and profound marketing statement, with major implications.

It suggests among other things, a major redesign, not just some minor improvements as we've been seeing in the rumors.

As far as what the iMac did to warrant that kind of re-introduction, it was a major case redesign, it dropped the floppy drive, and replaced all other data ports with USB. Since Apple has already introduced USB-C on the MBA, that's not such a major change, though I suppose it could be viewed that way on a desktop iMac/mini/Pro. If the SD card slot is going away, I suppose that's similar to removal of the floppy drive. But the case redesign was the major change, something we got both in 1984 with the original Mac, and again in 1998 with the iMac.

This could either be a massive letdown in context of this marketing spin, or it could be something pretty exciting ... again.
