Can I trip over that cable? Sure.

Have I ever tripped over it? Can't say I have.

I don't make the design decisions at Apple. But I look at what Apple has offered and I feel it has plenty to offer. Just see what you have gained from giving up MagSafe. In exchange for losing one dedicated charging port, I now get a more general purpose port which can be used as a normal USB port when I am not using it for charging.

There is now no such thing as a wrong port, because now each port in the MacBook is either an USB C port or whatever port you want it to be with the right cable and / or adaptor.

From a design perspective, it does indeed seem so much more elegant to me.

Form follows function: is a principle associated with modernist architecture and industrial design in the 20th century. The principle is that the shape of a building or object should be primarily based upon its intended function or purpose.

You want a a pretty deign? Buy an art sculpture.

Oh, and adapters? BWAHAHAHAHAHA. I don't need adapters now for my 2013 MBP, but I'll need them for the 2016 model?!? Get the f outta here!

You're more graceful than me! I've had my MBP for five months and I tripped over the cable at least four times.

(Mind, it IS true that in the meantime I accidentally disconnected it about 50 times, but still, thing would hit the floor at least once in those five months had it not been for MagSafe.)

I don't know some people are constantly tripping their laptops. You would think that after the first accident, adjustments would be made to prevent a repeat incident.

For me, my power socket is at my table, so my charging cable never hangs beyond the table. MagSafe is handy in that I can quickly disconnect it with a little tug, which is probably something I will miss. But sometimes, you have to lose some to gain some.

My adjustment would be no longer using the laptop as a portable computer, I'm afraid – or getting over my cyclephobia and trying to ensure the battery lasts forever (in the five months of me having it max capacity dropped from 104% to 102.5%). I have my desktop computer on the desk and I don't trip over those cables at all ;)

I have had a number of occasions where I, or my children have caught the cable of my MBP and the magsafe port saved my laptop. While I understand the logic, why ignore a feature of USB-C, its still something that I think is a mark against the laptop for omitting it.

I also expect other makers to follow suit, for instance the Surface Book as an easy detach connector for power (not as elegant as Apple's), I expect USB-C to cause that port to be removed when the next gen surface books come out next spring.

I'm a bit ashamed of my predictions for this event including a €799 ARM Macbook Air, dropping the rMB price to €999, announcing speed bumps for Minis and Mac Pros. I either have too much courage or not enough.
