Finally!!
Had £1500 burning a hole in my pocket for over a year now, glad I waited

Well, in my case $AU, but not really burning a hole in my pocket, and only since Feb.

My question is that once they are released, how quickly will they be available in Apple Retail Stores? I've seen some people post about this, but nothing concrete.

Since down in Aussieland we only have one Apple Store (in Sydney) :( , we have to rely on resellers like Domayne, Mac1 etc. At the start of the year when the Macbooks/Macbook Pros were released it took I week until they were in stock.

So my guess is around 1 week after they are released. I might be wrong, or it might be different for other countries, or different in this situation. My guess is definitely not concrete....

I read this thread really close to going to sleep last night, and I had a really bizarre dream where I went to this event, but during the presentation, Jobs collapsed from exhaustion. How odd.

Either way, I'm looking forward to it. Although not the collapsing bit. Don't want the stocks to tank any more. :)

An additional hard drive and slightly better cooling to support a low end dedicated GPU.

I know I said it aint going to happen Bolen but I can see the advantages, Mac OSX could be sold on USB Keys (They are so cheap now)

Also Macs use sata Hardrives imagine if the CD Bay was converted to a sata Bay, you push the hardrive into the bay and it hides behind a slot cover, a magnetic sata connector grabs the Hardrive.

Now when you want to eject the hardrive you do it via Mac OS, you simply select and eject, if mac os isnt using the drive it will ask for your password, if the password is correct it ejects the said drive:cool:

Um... nooooo... that's not how web deploys happen. I've been a web developer/designer for over a decade, and that's just not how it's done - you don't put the new products live but "hide them in plain view" - you build the new content on a test server and then promote it to the live site on a schedule.

Good imagination, but try again.

Ive also had a fair few years of web development, but this isnt a game of who's .... is bigger than who's.

I was purely stating the fact that there is a new.png image in the code for both the Macbook and Macbook Pro, and not the Macbook Air.

If thats not "how you do it" why would it be in the code and not visable on the live page then?

And who ever said it was there for every product on the apple store? Follow my instructions, and look down the code, its only inplace for the Macbook and Macbook Pro models..

We all know there are new products coming, but this is a rumor and speculation site, so thought it would be fitting to post this.. no need for flaming.

Strange dreams.... maybe it was a message from the future...... :D
Anyway, I hope nothing does happen to Steve.

The stocks will collapse anyway; all of them! THE WHOLE WORLD WILL! :D
EDIT: Sorry, the stocks are collapsing. Dow Jones -7.33%; Nasdaq down -5.46% today!

Hmmm...I'm about an hour away from my closest Apple Retail Store. But, with as expensive as gas is, it's definitely cheaper to get one day shipping rather than drive, but I'm willing to pay for whichever is the quickest option. It's sounding like the quickest method will be to get overnight shipping. Am I reading this wrong? Is it really a crapshoot as to whether the Florida Apple Retail Stores will get them in the same day or later in the week (if immediate availability is announced)?

If "immediate availability" is announced then I guess they'll be immediatey available. The thing is: I'm not really sure.... :)

I have booked my personal shopper on Wednesday afternoon in anticipation. Will have to cancel it if they don't release them straight away.:D

There have been several instances where I have been able to drive to a local Apple store (I think we have at least 4 here in Dallas) and pick up a new Powerbook/MacBook Pro the same day they have been announced unless Apple has specifically said they are not immediately available.

I'm planning on going to an Apple store on Tuesday to get a new MacBook Pro as long as they are immediately available.

I know the feeling...sometimes I wonder if we can really be sure that they're actually going to be releasing new MacBooks... :)

Sorry for all the questions--I've been more of a lurker rather than a poster in this go-round of notebook rumors.

From your experience (or anyone's experience) has there been a problem keeping stock on new laptop models on first day? I don't want to drive and then have them be all out...

I've been a lifelong Mac user (for some reason my parents felt like it was necessary to buy Apple computers in the late 80s/early 90s), but this the first time that I've needed a new computer during a launch window.

how long took it apple to have the new nanos avaible?
i mean its not that apple just started manufracting the macbooks...
months ago we already had leaks about alu macbooks

Audio interfaces (for recording or live audio processing) are almost exclusively Firewire also. If Apple abandons FireWire, they will be abandoning one part of their customer base... Audio and video artists. This would be a huge mistake... Especially after they have gone to such lengths to portray pc's as non-creative business machines.

Not too mention the thousands that went out and bought external firewire drives for use with time machine! I sure hope Apple does not abandon this firewire connectivity!

Most likely not but it is possible. Call them and see if they can put one on hold for you. I'm pretty sure they can do this. I got them to do this for me once before when they said they only had a few left. I told them I would be there in 30 minutes or less.

That's basically my plan, if they are immediately available! :D
If they aren't immediately available then I'll ask them to reserve one for me.

Pardon me if this has been posted before, but Honestly! 54 pages to wade through!

BUT....It's NOT Notebooks, not even SOCKS, but it's.............

an APPLE TIE!!!!!!!!!!

Obvious from the photo!

My plan as well. I'm hoping when I say that I have a long drive, that they'll feel pity on me!

When should I call if available immediately? As soon as they update the website?

=p

Yeshyeshyesh!!! :D:D:D Glad I waited. Now, am I going to have to splash out ~£800 (HE discount;)), or over £1000? All depends on the graphics. Maybe there'll be a 13" MBP? That would suit me down to the ground :D

AAAAAAAAAAHAHHHHHHHHH shock...
the mb outer case will be plastic?
-->macsoda and 9to5mac said so
