Apple Invites Media to 'Notebook' Event October 14th

I'd be ok with getting a current generation, since it's still a step up from the older ones I've had (this will be the 3rd replacement).

But, it would sure make my week if I got one of the brand new models.

Yess sirs! Welcome me to the community please =)

Anyways, can't wait for the new laptop. Waited since like last year! Will be so nice to have a macbook in my possesion! I wonder if the new computers will have something new and fresh or just an design upgrade. it would be fun with something new! But anything will do! Just give it to me now. My Iphone needs a pal!
 
With the advent of the other brands bringing out Macbook Air type Netbooks, do you reckon that Apple may give in and reduce the price of the Macbook Air?

If that machine was marketed around the $900, I and I suspect many others would purchase it immediately. Technology has moved on SSDs are much cheaper now.

Maybe they will bring out something along those dimensions with an atom processor and a smaller SSD say 16GB? Maybe this could be the $800 Netbook?
 
I'm so glad I waited. Made the conscious decision to switch to Mac around January but wanted to hold out until the rumored refresh. Fortunately I live about 5 minutes from an apple store but I'm guessing it will be pretty crowded on Tuesday/when they are available so I may just wait a few days for it to die down. What's another couple of days? Looks like there's actually 4 stores within about a 20 minute radius of me, guess I'm pretty lucky.

Plus that should give time for sites to review/benchmark the new model and if I'm not too impressed I'll just get the previous generation at a nice discount.

Look forward to officially joining the Mac community (though I've been checking this site for almost a year now)

i wish my macbook pro had a defect.

so far its been rock solid and i have been thankful for it but damn i wana get my hands on the new one so bad and we don't even know what it has yet
plus what's the point of apple care if you don't get to use it.

for example
u have air bags in ur car... so u prefer to crash daily just to use ur air bags?

Practice what you preach man. There is a huge distinction between a computer/applecare and a frickin car/air bags. Stop the ineffective car:computer analogies already.

Aside from being underpowered, I don't see how a MBA is anything like a netbook. (the MBA actually has a BIGGER footprint than the Macbook (albeit just barely))
 
how many think that we will see the faster ram and the macbook will stay at four gig the pro will go to six or eight
 
you can put 8gb in the current macbook pro, apple just doesn't offer it in their bto''s. search newegg and you can get 8gb for less than $200
