I wish Apple would broadcast the keynote's live.

They've done it for years but the servers kept getting bogged down and quicktime would crash during the streaming. They began to narrow it down to only showing the broadcast live at their retail stores but lines of people kept forming making it impossible for shoppers to have breathing space.

Ahhh I see.

Well I'm not sure about how soon ONE can purchase the new notebooks, but I'm pretty sure EVERYONE can purchase them that day. I would assume Tuesday would be the soonest but nobody can be sure until they are actually announced.

Sorry for the sarcastic remark, but I just can't understand why everyone is writing like that now. "When is the soonest ONE can purchase the new notebooks" or "if the notebooks are announced tuesday, when can SAID notebooks be expected to be on sale"... it drives me crazy that everyone writes like this now for some unknown reason. It's just a pet peeve of mine after reading a ton of posts on this forum and you just happen to be the person I'm responding to. No offense to you, I'm just wondering why this is the new trend now.

...the "new trend"?? It's called British English, my friend, and predates both of us by a few centuries.

Pardon the "sass", too. I'm a (wannabe) linguist, I can't help it.

Well, it's a new trend on this forum or at least from the ones I've read. Just because something has been around for a few centuries doesn't mean anything really. Horses have been around for centuries but we use cars now. You get my point...I shouldn't have said anything in the first place though because now I'm steering everyone off topic. Hmm, I feel like I should say something event related so... Tuesday can't come quick enough!

haha, alright.

AKA: USA, one, English. :p

An unanswered question isn't AKA for anything, it's just you assuming the answer. Again, I shouldn't have written anything because I'm taking the topic in a different direction.

"One" as a handy, impersonal pronoun is hardly a new trend. It's been around in both British and American English for a very long time. "Said" can sometimes be a pithy substitute that saves both writer and readers some time. Nothing wrong with that.

I disagree with your opinion. Thanks for the response.

Just trying to post a light-hearted response. You seem so serious and defensive about trying to make it seem like you have nothing to prove, yet someone simply asked you what country you live in and suddenly it's too much of a secret? The use of "one" in a sentence like that may be archaic, but it is grammatically fine. IMO, using "everyone" in that sentence looks less correct.

PS: No-one is going to steal your identity or call you a "dumb American" for living in USA. ;)

I agree though, you shouldn't have derailed the thread, and I'll shutup if you will. :)

I'm sorry I'm new to all of this, even a mac.
do you think that apple will update they're website tonight or will it be after the press release?
just curious.:apple:
i got to do an all nighter for a feasibility project.

Quick question

Are new laptops made available at Best Buy as soon as they are made available at the Apple Store, or would I have to wait?

Also, what is the educational discount?

I want a new MBP and apple better replace my existing one given I have had it for less then a month.

Can't wait to see what happens tuesday!!!

I don't want to poor water on your fire, but I was in my local apple store and they said *if* there was a new MacBook, they would replace purchases of current MacBooks with new ones if they were purchased within two weeks of the announcement. Hopefully they will make an exception in your case.

Ill be refreashing that page so much i will crash the website :)

Im in the UK but will be ordering online as i want (well atm i want) a custom spec MBP!

I'd rather they be announced Tuesday and released Wednesday. That would give me more sufficient time to scour the Apple store online and choose which model I prefer than having to rush to clog up the physical Apple store on Tuesday after the Keynote. I like to know what I want at the Apple store because it's always so hectic, even on typical days.

ahh I see; what I meant was I hope they're in UK stores on Wednesday, because I live right near one! :D

I sure hope they already shipped stuff to all the stores around the world, even though by now there should be posts/threads about boxes not to be open, or let's say they get delivered tomorrow morning,at least the ones to be exposed to the people, let's say a few dozens of laptops per store.
I'm sure a lot of people will be angry if what someone said on MR about laptops being released(or available) on Nov 2nd..as a lot of stores haven't been able to sell them for more than one month, right?

I was responding to you in a light hearted way as well, but sometimes written text can be taken in the wrong tone. I didn't give a response to his request because it didn't seem necessary. What reason would he need to know what country I live in unless he specifically wanted to say something negative. What I'm saying has nothing to do with grammar and only about how it annoys me personally. There's a guy I work with that says the word "essentially" all the time. Sure it's grammatically correct but no less annoying! Haha... It's probably from listening to that guy and another guy who says "in reality" every other sentence that has me nit picking now.

Wow I am off topic again. I'm going to drop it now, I just wanted to clear that up about it just being my opinion and that it's annoying to me.

Well the online store shows macbooks shipping in 24 hours. So maybe that rumor was correct a couple weeks ago about the macbooks shipping. Maybe they have been staged with Apple distributors just waiting for uncle Steve to give the word.
