I Feel sorry for all you guys having to deal with the time zone thing. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area which is only 15 minutes away from where the keynote is held every year. Our showtime is 10:00 am and I go to Macworld every year and see the keynote live. I have 5 Apple stores within 15 minutes from where I live.

Sorry to rub it in but in terms of Apple stuff it's nice to live in the U.S. (especially in San Francisco) near Apple. The U.S is always the last to get anything in electronics, the UK and China are always the first. :p

Is this media event going to be LIVE on tv or internet?
Or do we have to wait for apple to up the video on apple.com to view it?

how long does it take until the keynote is on apple.com....will it be the day after? And does anybody has a link where i can watch it the next day without getting spoiled:p?

No, it won't be live video on either, but you can check here on MacRumors for live text updates, a well as on engadget.com, gizmodo.com and others. The video will be online at apple.com/quicktime/qtv

It usually takes at least 2 hours after it's over. You can view it at apple.com/quicktime/qtv
:D

Specifications

Given the bottom of the range MacBook has a 2.1Ghz C2D processor and 1GB RAM, can we expected a faster processor and more ram for the new base model? If so, would anyone guess by how much the processor is likely to be improved?

Wow, wouldn't this be the best notebook ad:

"Everybody have their own taste. Everybody have their own wallet. And everybody have their own needs. Wouldn't it be great if you could pick a notebook that fits both your taste, wallet and your needs?
Say hello to Apple's new notebook line, with 12 models, starting at $799"

With a cool song in the background and all models sliding over the screen.

Available

When can we buy them? I know from the apple site you can order as soon as they update. but what about the stores? can we go right after (best buy and the apple stores)? or is there going to be a wait period and say we can get them on friday (i think that was the case with one release)?

Thanks!

So if the media event is on the 14th, when is the soonest one can purchase the new notebooks?

Well I'm not sure about how soon ONE can purchase the new notebooks, but I'm pretty sure EVERYONE can purchase them that day. I would assume Tuesday would be the soonest but nobody can be sure until they are actually announced.

Sorry for the sarcastic remark, but I just can't understand why everyone is writing like that now. "When is the soonest ONE can purchase the new notebooks" or "if the notebooks are announced tuesday, when can SAID notebooks be expected to be on sale"... it drives me crazy that everyone writes like this now for some unknown reason. It's just a pet peeve of mine after reading a ton of posts on this forum and you just happen to be the person I'm responding to. No offense to you, I'm just wondering why this is the new trend now.

...no.

There are a lot of members on this board who do not speak and/or write English as a first language. Some of us only speak 5 or 6 languages. Some of us were taught to speak "proper English"...

Can I ask which country you are from and how many languages you speak ?

That would directly contradict the prime rule of the Steve Jobs Doctrine: Don't confuse your customers with too many choices.

What is your point in regards to what cg165 said?? He's perfectly in his right to say that.

It's perfectly correct, but it can get a bit much when it's used all the time! At the moment I'm getting royally cheesed off with people who say 'FAIL' and people that don't understand how to use the words than/then correctly.

Incorrect: If the entry level MacBook is more then $1000 Apple = FAIL!
Correct: If the entry level MacBook is more than $1000 I will be annoyed!

I just checked BestBuy's ad and they aren't any Macbook related stuff in it. Not sure if this is a big deal but-- maybe we'll get it this Tuesday then?

Didn't this happen too before the iPod event last month? Just wondering...

Good sites to checkout

Hi! First time posting.
I know someone has posted it here, but I can't find it again... what are the best sites for live coverage of the event on Tuesday? Suggestions?
Thanks! And glad I registered so I can stop talking to the computer screen and actually respond to posts. :p

I visit a few sites where I get all my tech info. Some of them will also have live coverage (they just type text and it auto updates).

1.) http://www.engadget.com/
2.) http://gizmodo.com/ (on tuesday at 10 PST, 1 EST check here) http://live.gizmodo.com/
3.) http://appleinsider.com/
4.) http://www.macrumorslive.com/

I'm pretty sure they'll have a liveblog here as well. This will be my first Mac so I'll definitely be watching as the event unfolds...I can't wait!

I agree, there are lots of members from all over the world and I have nothing against any of them. You are taking my comment as some sort of attack towards people who don't speak English as a main language and that just isn't the case. My comment was directed at applefriend2008 specifically about those words. This is more of a trend than it is a matter of speaking a foreign language and getting words mixed up. The more you read through this forum the more you see the same thing being written over and over again. I'm confused why you are trying to speak for other people. I only speak for myself which is all I (or anyone else for that matter) can ever do.

Since you asked... no, you can't have that information. I'm actually not interested in how many languages you speak either, I'm only here to talk about apple products. Specifically the event about to happen on Tuesday. If you have some information about anything related to apple that you would like to share, I'd love to read it. If you are planning on getting the MBP, post here:
