It's not going to be something they've not updated for a while - "it's been too long" would be an admission that they'd not been working on something they should have been and that's not very Apple (admitting it that is).

Possible thought from a colleague: the return of coloured Macs (probably iMacs, maybe Mac Minis). It would figure - it would have the tagline referencing something fun (rather than something which could be seen as a failing) and everyone else's general design aesthetic has been moving towards Apple's and they may want to shake it up a bit.

Am wondering about the word "way" though. If it was just the passing of time, why not just "It's been too long"? I don't believe it's just for emphasis or just a word.

thunderbolt display refresh!!

My guess is it has been too long using physical credit cards and this is the tag line for the official launch of Apple Pay.

Only other thing I would think earns the "it's been too long" would be Apple TV.

I did not realize how long it has been since a mac mini update. May just be that (which is not overly exciting). Here are the details on the mac mini from MacRumors buying guide:

16th of November 2004 was Halflife 2 released. 3621 days until next week. Been way too long: HALFLIFE 3 CONFIRMED!

iPad has had the same user interface since day one, and THAT was just a playing it safe, almost straight port over from the 4" mobile phone.

It's been WAY TOO LONG like that.

Perhaps they have finally realized a 10" screen deserves a far better user interface than dead icons with continental gaps between them on a background picture.

Sounds right.

The colors and the 'it's been too long' reference Apple back when their logo was a rainbow (pre 1998).

It's possible Apple is now thinking about colors on its laptops and desktops, like they used to have pre-1998.

doubt they will be changing the software UI on ipads. iOS 8 was just released and iOS 8.1 will at the most have just touch ID and maybe multitasking split screen for these devices.

Was the invitation thinner, as in The Thinnest Media Invite Ever?

I hope any new software or OS will be thinner as well!

Ugh, am i the only one hoping for a Mac Pro refresh :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
Haswell-E is out and I read that AMD has a new FirePro card out- still 28 nm but a lower power design. Still, I wonder if Apple won't wait until AMD can give them a FirePro built on a 20 nm process which would really lower power consumption.
