I was expecting AAPL to announce the Single Lens Version of the iPhone XS today (i.e., the Next-Gen High-End iPhone XSE), but this pops-up instead ... so now, it's either take a chance on ordering an XR tonight after midnight, OR hold-off till the 30th, & see if the iPhone XSE gets announced then.

I think AAPL wanted to announce the iPhone XSE today, but it wasn't fully planned, & ONLY started to gain momentum AFTER it become obvious that sales of the 5.8" iPhone XS weren't doing so well.

An XSE with 4 GB of DRAM & priced @ $899 would sell well, so I'm NOT sure why we've NOT heard much about it via the rumor mill.

And, it would be priced as low as the 256 GB XR, $37.45/month, vs $31.20/month for the $749 64 GB XR.

Common sense says they should have offered this along with the others.
The SE is dead at least for now. There is less than a 0% chance it makes an appearance at this event. Buy the Xr if you are in the market for a phone and the Xr is your second option after an Xse

I was watching EMPIRE and it appeared that the show had one already. No home button whatsoever. However, I never saw the back of it to confirm it was an Apple. Cookie was face timing with her son.

I'll buy into the hype/need/benefit of bezeless iPads once it's proven that no spare runout space/margins are best...once it's standard that pictures on the wall are frameless, that magazines & books are found to be best when the printed words touch the page edges, and when mothers teach their children to place glasses of milk right on the edge of the table.

Otherwise, bezeless ipads with little space for grip are just for satisfying Jony Ive's fetishes and for customers who plan to use their buttonless offscreen-swipe-needing fragile smart glass without a protective case.

I cannot wait for October 2020 event so I can finally see the AirPower being announced for the confirmed released date. I have been holding off my wireless charger till now.. sigh...

Dude wireless charging is great and you can have it now for cheap! I was very excited for AirPower, but now since I’ve been using cheaper wireless charging options from amazon I don’t miss Apple’s very expensive version.

So on Oct. 18 they’re announcing their annual October event will take place on Oct. 30, just barely in October? Kind of seems like a student who looked at the calendar and said “crap, my assignment’s due at the end of October and I haven’t even started yet.” Hopefully the product(s) announced will be better thought out than their scheduling/announcing of the event seems to be.

This is a crucial keynote for Apple. It will show us their direction for next few years. If there is nothing interesting (nice tech for a reasonable price), I will have to get out of the ecosystem.

Good luck with the Android world--Google's been waiting to absorb you (and your family) into their black hole, and just in time for Halloween.

Thank goodness. The whiners in these forums will give it a break until Oct 30 11:01am (1 min after the event ends)

You know, when Apple literally has machines that haven't been touched in 4 years, it's really not fair to call people whiners. There are certain expectations about tech products that Apple has been neglecting in regard to their computers. It's not whining.

iPad Pro + AirPods 2 + AirPower

My wallet is ready. Would be nice to see a new iMac but I don't need one for another year.

Looking at those illustrations... it's obvious they will talk a lot about iPad.

But... I got this idea few weeks / months ago: There was a rumor that the new Mac Mini will be focused on power users / developers. That suggest that it might not be just an underpowered device. What if the new Mac Pro and Mac Mini will be fused into a single modular product. I know it might sound silly but imagine a Mac Mini that you can upgrade will Apple branded modules (to turn it into Mac Pro). Because I don't think that Apple will give up their idea to control everything, so I doubt the future Mac Pro will be upgradable as the old one (2010-2011) just using "classic" computer components.

I know, I'm a dreamer.

I've thought this for over a year now, ever since they said a redesigned Mac Pro was coming... and never did. I could see them making a modular, or at least more configurable Mac Pro/mini that could range in price from $999 all the way up to $5000 depending on configuration and requirements.

So, a single, yet highly configurable headless Mac.

You must be new here if you think it's just the Mini they complain about...how about the complaints 1 min after a new CPU is put into a Macbook Pro retina? etc. etc.

How can Apple spend time adding refinements to neglected products when they're focused on removing the next button, port, key, pad, magsafe, bezel, upgradable/removable hardware component, or fractional mm of thickness?

No, I am not new here at all, but Apple deserves a lot of criticism at this point. Their efforts on the desktop have been utterly pathetic. A few spec bumps over so many years is barely even trying. I realize some people live to complain but at this point, it's absolutely justified.

Apple today sent out media invites for a second major 2018 event set to be held in New York City on Tuesday, October 30 at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, Howard Gilman Opera House.

Apple's October event, which will focus on products not introduced at the iPhone-centric event in September, will kick off at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time.

Apple sent out multiple different Apple logo designs on the invitations that it sent out to members of the media, all of which feature the tagline "There's more in the making."

We're still awaiting multiple product refreshes before the end of 2018, including updates to several Mac models and the iPad Pro, which are likely to see a debut at the event.

2018 iPad Pro models are expected to adopt an iPhone X-style design with no Home button, slimmer bezels, and a TrueDepth camera system that will enable Face ID for biometric authentication.

While the iPad Pro is expected to continue to use an LCD rather than OLED due to the high price of OLED displays, rumors suggest it could adopt a USB-C port instead of a Lightning port and that the headphone jack could potentially be eliminated.

Along with new iPad Pro models, we're also expecting refreshes to the MacBook line. Refreshed 12-inch MacBooks are said to be in the works, and based on rumors, Apple has developed a low-cost notebook with a Retina display that could be positioned as an updated MacBook Air.

The Mac mini, which has not been updated for more than 1,400 days, is expected to be refreshed for the first time since 2014. We don't know a lot about what to expect for the Mac mini update, but upgraded internals and faster processors are a sure thing.

It's possible that at this iPad and Mac-focused event, we'll also hear more about the modular Mac Pro that Apple is working on for a 2019 debut.

Apple's 2018 iPhone keynote event will begin at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time. Apple typically streams the event live on its website and on Apple TV, but for those who are unable to watch, MacRumors will be providing full event coverage both on MacRumors.com and through our MacRumorsLive Twitter account.
