Interesting that it's in a cultural venue in (arguably) the cultural capital of the US.

I predict lots of people onstage having done interesting things with the new Apple Pencil.

And given that it's a music venue, I expect a new super-charged version of Logic Pro - for the iPad.

...Although let's hope that they open with a segment on the Mac - and announce new Macs!

This is a crucial keynote for Apple. It will show us their direction for next few years. If there is nothing interesting (nice tech for a reasonable price), I will have to get out of the ecosystem.
Apple = reasonable pricing=NOT going to happen.
The economy is strong, unemployment is down, people are making money...Apple will take advantage of that for sure!

Develop (finally) a dual-bootable ios/OSX variant of the microsoft surface with removable/configurable ports/jacks and a minimum of RAM/SSD swappability and they'll have my attention again.

Confused as to why MacRumors have, in this post - and the roundup/buyers guide links at its end - dropped any mention of iMac :(.

Previous discussion of an autumn event frequently seemed to mention an iMac update/refresh…

Does MacRumors know something they’ve not shared or is this an accidental omission?

You know, when Apple literally has machines that haven't been touched in 4 years, it's really not fair to call people whiners. There are certain expectations about tech products that Apple has been neglecting in regard to their computers. It's not whining.
Don't forget the Mac Pro, like Apple has! It's almost at 5 years without an update. :(

You must be new here if you think it's just the Mini they complain about...how about the complaints 1 min after a new CPU is put into a Macbook Pro retina? etc. etc.
Most of the complaints you're thinking of were in regard to throttling that was making the 2018 MacBook Pro perform worse than the 2017 MacBook Pro. This prompted Apple to release a fix for the issue. Seems justified to me.

Sounds like a music-themed event. Hopefully AirPods 2 will be released (not just announced) since I lost my first gen a month ago.
I think more generalized "Pro Content-Creation" (both video and audio).

I also think the second (and possibly third) "logos" (especially the layered-Apple) are a tip of the hat to Modular Macs...

Excited!

I'll buy into the hype/need/benefit of bezeless iPads once it's proven that no spare runout space/margins are best...once it's standard that pictures on the wall are frameless, that magazines & books are found to be best when the printed words touch the page edges, and when mothers teach their children to place glasses of milk right on the edge of the table.

Otherwise, bezeless ipads with little space for grip are just for satisfying Jony Ive's fetishes and for customers who plan to use their buttonless offscreen-swipe-needing fragile smart glass without a protective case.

Though not for the same reasons, I'll agree with the argument that bezel's don't actually create problems. In face, if I'm holding a device - phone or tablet - my finger will actually cover a portion of the outer edge. Right now that means I'm touching the bezels an not covering anything of value. Once the display really is edge-to-edge, and once apps take advantage of that space, we'll be in a quandary on how to view our devices.

This is essentially the same argument for/against thinness. Many people love how thin and light the iPhone's are, and they have every right to that opinion and preference. Me? First thing I'm going to do it put it in a protective case... so that totally blows out the argument for thin. I would rather have a device with a bit more battery and sturdiness even if it mean a tiny bit heavier and thicker. Wouldn't make a bit of difference to me.

I don’t get why they are not holding the event at the Steve Jobs theatre, also for the first time it will be on at 3pm here in the U.K. (10am eastern time is 3pm here) and the event invites have all gone out with different designs, I’m probably wrong but something feels different about this.

For the first time in months I got excited by a MacRumors headline! There better be an iMac, Apple. Even if it is slightly better I will buy it as my expectations are not high. Interested to see what they do with the Mac mini, because if it can go blow for blow with the iMac (unlikely), I already have a monitor. Also interested in the long-rumored "low cost" MacBook. Let's see it, Apple!

Not only cultural but also very "Professional". The Brooklyn Academy is well known for being a professional music school.

I'm not sure but has Apple ever held an event not at 10AM California time ? This one is 10AM Eastern time.

Maybe the location is a huge hint towards the professional design/creative market? The style of the invites backs this up too. I really hope we hear about the Mac Pro but don't get too excited, people. I have a bad feeling it will just be a new iPad and a cheap Macbook. I want to be wrong though.

If there is no new Mac hardware can they at least release MacOS as a standalone product? It's getting ridiculous, and the offerings that do come out are underpowered, underclocked, I/O restricted, overpriced nightmares.

MacOS is the last good thing Apple hasn't really dropped the ball on. By the way Apples has been going I feel like the factory worker resetting the sign "X days without incident". "4 years since iPad mini"

All I want is an Apple Pencil with a rocker-style button near your finger tip and the ability to turn it upside-down and use the end like an eraser - just like a typical Wacom stylus. Wacom have been in the drawing on a tablet business forever and long ago figured out what the best functionality is for a stylus.

Yikes, how far our dreams of Apple goodies have fallen to be "All I want"ing what is basically a modernized Number 2 pencil.

Where's the flying car? Where's the (Star Trek) transporter/holodeck/warp drive? Where's the fembots?

Oh who am I kidding? I'm still hoping for a refreshed iPad Mini (and 99% sure there won't be one in spite of the ancient tech "4" still selling at a pace of about 1 out of ever 5 iPads sold).

It’s kind of amazing that Apple built the Steve Jobs Theatre to be used just once a year.

I would have thought that a major iPad and Mac event would be hosted at Apple Park.

They may have just hosted the last call there as a pilot with the intention of hosting no more till next year to iron out any issues etc.
