100% the Touch ID will be better than ever before. Apple Pay will be easier than ever. Everyone will be surprised at what Apple do here.

For example, the whole screen will be Touch ID. No need to just put your thumb in one area anymore.

That ain’t happening dude!

is it wrong to wish to be there - just to be there? and not because of whatever they might be announcing?

Of course it's not wrong! 1) wishes are free and 2) it's the first event at the new Steve Jobs theatre, so lots of people would love to be there, even if they have never bought so much as an iPod Shuffle from Apple. :D

You obviously are missing the concept of VR headsets. There are no touch targets and you can safely view all content inches from your face. 1080p displays have clear "screen door" affect but 4k not so much.

I could care less about VR, and apparently Tim does too. However, if I were to invest in VR, it'd be through the HTC Vive, not an adapter for a smart phone.

I'll take Apple's fantastic 1080 screen and killer battery life over a gimmick any day.

Where have you been? There is 0 evidence to support that they have successfully engineered reliable fingerprint sensors under the display.

Then why is Apple increasing the resolution of their iPhone screen beyond 1080p? Just because they can?

There's no actual evidence that says they are. We'll know next week, but I honestly hope they don't. I'd rather have a faster refreshing screen with accurate color than a gimmicky bump in PPI.

Why can’t we have all of that in one screen? We got it with the new iPad screen and that has a presumably slower CPU and GPU.

Well, looks like you got your wish and I didn't get mine. You get your 2k-ish, 60hz, battery draining screen, and I get battery life that is now questionable since it's only "about 2 hours more than the 7," not the 7 Plus, the 7. Which means it won't last an entire day on a charge.

I didn't really get my wish. I would take 120Hz over higher resolution anytime. The only time you need a super retina display is when you're strapping the phone into VR goggles.

Sucks that you need more battery but everyone's use is different. I always have at least 30% battery left every night but I also don't use Facebook and other battery sucking apps. My wife needs to charge her iPhone several times a day, but she also spends hours on Facebook so it makes sense.
