But there have been leaks. Not photos and the like, but we know pretty much exactly what the hardware will be, including the presence of a touch and voice operated remote. We just have a pretty limited understanding of what the OS will be capable of.

That's if those reports are accurate, but yea i get what you mean, i was referring to physical leaks like with the iPhone. The same can be said for the rumoured iPad Pro, we have information but no actual leaks. either Apple is keeping them under very tight security or they are have not yet entered into production (iPad Pro isn't expected to be announced until October so for that device it would make sense).

It's not implied, it's a fact that your phone needs to be plugged in for you to activate Siri by saying the words "Hey Siri"

With respect, I think you're mistaken.

What video formats are permitted on this forum and I will happily upload a short clip?

I keep trying, but Siri keeps thinking I am saying, 'Give me a hand".

Ugh.

For the love of God, please take it easy on the low light noise reduction when processing for photos.

Didn't the "hey siri" activation without being plugged in rumor get squashed long ago, based on the fact this would kill the battery ridiculously fast. For that to be feasible, Siri would have to always be listening, always be on, which would mess up the battery life. Thats my understanding of why its only when the phone is plugged in.

Hopefully this means awesome new siri features. Maybe siri on the 6S will be able to be activated without pressing the button or having your phone plugged in.

I really dont see how thats possible. Im all for it. But, battery would last like an hour or something. It couldn't sleep.

Is this what you are doing:

iDownloadBlog recently revealed how to activate the function, though it might actually be more of a bug than a feature. Here’s what you need to do:

  • Make sure you’re on iOS 8
  • Turn on “Hey Siri” functionality in Siri settings.
  • Launch Siri
  • Let Siri timeout, this only takes a few seconds.
  • So long as Siri is still open and the device doesn’t lock or idle off, you’ll be able to use “Hey Siri” at any time.
Here’s a pro tip that makes it much more useful, however. If you need to access “Hey Siri” unplugged for longer than a few minutes, you can change your phone’s Auto-Lock settings to “never.” In that case, you should be able to use “Hey Siri” away from an outlet until you manually lock your phone or exit Siri.

Most of us would prefer to have auto-lock on and still be able to use Hey Siri.

I currently have an Apple TV. I like it (don't love it). But if they don't come out with a seriously awesome successor, I am going to break down and buy a Roku.

Please Apple, make me buy an Apple TV.
