What so special about Windows 10 and Edge that Apple requires this specific set of requirements for the PC in order to stream the keynote on Sept. 9? Don't both Firefox and Chrome have the supposed "HLS" technology built-in to their browsers to stream the keynote too?

Nobody has mentioned this that I've seen, but for the first time the Keynote will be available to PCs that have Windows 10 and the Edge browser. Does Edge somehow integrate with QuickTime better?

It isn't Quicktime, it is Apple's pseudo proprietary streaming protocol that they use.

" ... Apple uses HTTP Live Streaming technology (HLS) that is part of QuickTime, Safari, OS X, and iOS. It's a protocol implemented by Apple and suggested as a standard, but it's not one that many other companies have used widely ... "

The Edge browser gives in and and supports HLS. This doesn't work on other browsers on OS X either. ( iOS you have no choice but to use Safari or Safari's core engine with a slightly different interface on top)

There are a several clients ... not few that are in broad usage or well the cability well known.

Thanks for the link and info. I didn't know it was so difficult for PC users to live stream Apple events.

There are options on the PC but the obvious one of go to Apple.com website and and the keynote just simply starts autoplaying isn't there. Itunes > Open Stream > some stream URL you snarf out of your browser. .... yeah that is super obvious. *cough*.

Most people know the event is happening but the real question should be does anyone other than Apple evangelists actually care about these events anymore?

The events were all right in their day but come on people things move on and there's precious little left to whoop and holler about anymore. I would personally prefer 30 minutes in the dentist chair than sit through another Apple event. o_O

My favourite one so far:

"I can neither confirm nor deny that I am not authorised either to confirm or deny that I cannot disclose anything that you would then have to confirm. In any case, I would deny. Got it?" , Siri.

I wonder if you ask Siri this while the keynote is going on will she say hey no hint needed the keynote is on now lol

Speak for yourself, but actually a lot of people care about this event. More than ever have or ever will care about the likes of Microsoft's or Samsung's events. If you need any dental treatment (most people in the UK do) give me a pm, I have no qualifications, but I own a poor drill etc.
