I asked Siri for a hint and she told me to 'check a rumours blog. That's what I do.' :D

This event has the possibility of becoming a PR disaster for Apple.

Think about it.

Normally Apple holds events in venues that seat around 1200 people. BGCA seats 6000. That's SIX times more people.

Now if Apple doesn't fill those seats it will look like an empty auditorium. That is bad publicity. You want a full place not one with just a few people. I know that from experience.

So..

Apple has to be inviting people from sectors other than the tech industry. Similar to the Apple Watch event.

Now then WHY would Apple invite people not in the tech industry ?

Is there a sector out there that is getting invites but are under NDA for a while ?

Has anybody heard if anyone from the entertainment industry has been invited ?

I'm gonna guess other online news sites that are entertainment related will be announcing the invite over the next few days.

That or there is going to be a full fledged concert there with tickets going to fans of "Taylor Swift".
But she is in Houston Sept. 9th.

You work for Trump? :D

I suspect there are a ton of invites for people in the home automation products area as well as developers who will develop TV apps. Plus people in the entertainment content areas.

Okay, folks, we all love Apple here but let us remember: This is Apple. It would be prudent for all of us to keep our expectations low. Like iPhone battery life low. Apple Watch sales low. MacBook ingenuity low.

Instead of making the phone heavier and thicker to accommodate a bigger battery while also improving one-handed use and comfortability they've settled on a target battery life of x hours and have chosen to design around that goal by focusing on software and hardware efficiency. What? That is not innovation. Why would a mobile device such as a phone need to be thinner and lighter? Just give us the iPhone 4 but with a five-inch display. Call it a day.

Instead we can expect a slightly better iPhone 6. Faster CPU and GPU are a given but Force Touch? The geniuses at Apple invested millions of dollars in developing a new technology that accomplishes the same thing as a long press? Ah, but then again, this is Apple, a company that "created" a new category of device called the "iPad." No, no, it's not a iPod touch at 9.7 inches. No. It's an "iPad."

Oh. And rose gold. To that, I quote a legendary visionary: "The one thing Apple's providing now is leadership in colors."

As for the Apple TV. I can count on a billion amputated fingers how many people are just dying for a new Apple TV. Apple is just fragmenting the television viewing experience. They're not solving anything. Chromecast is all you need. Apple TV is good but Chromecast is better and better is better than good. It just plugs right into your television. Could not be any more simpler. Apple, with all their pontificating on simplicity, couldn't figure that one out. Sorry, Apple, but boxes are dead and Google is innovating the way toward a brighter—and vastly more affordable—future.

"If it's not an iPhone (16 GB), it's not an iPhone (16 GB)." And exactly how is this a problem, Cupertino...?

Meh. 6000 people who would want to see an Apple presentation live? It could hold 20,000 and they'd still have no problem filling it.

the apple leaf looks like a finger pressing hard on something.... like force touch...

its not that hard to understand....

Nice Google ad, bro. Plugging an hdmi cable into the tv and a power cord into the wall IS so much harder. Some of us enjoy being Google ecosystem free (except for search, that is)

I wish you good health! Maybe if your doc is like mine you'll be stuck in the waiting room a long time and can stream it there anyway. ;)

It's nothing, just for my warts on my fingers, which are pretty much gone. Just get the stinging spray on them and off I go. Usually I get there early and out early. Crappy part is that I take the bus so most likely i'll be listening to TWIT on my iPhone 6 afterwards on the bus.

Only announcement i'm hoping for is Apple TV as I have no reason to get a new iPhone until iPhone 7.

They will have no problem filling this place, all the media as usual and then invitations to music industry and television/movie industry.

Siri on the Apple Watch says there is a big event on September 9th. Ask her again what big event is on September 9th and she will say the Apple Watch Calendar only goes out 7 days. :)

I don't want Google anywhere near any more of my data than they already have procured via gmail. I am hoping Apple TV news will be a part of the presentation.

I actually am excited about Rose gold. But I'm also excited about the rumored spec upgrades to the iPhone. I like force touch on my apple watch but I agree, it doesn't seem that revolutionary to me...yet. I need to see what they plan to do with it.

I will temper my expectations, as that is good advice. But I don't really ever come away from these events truly disappointed, overall. I'll be disgruntled by a few things here and there, at most.

I'm confused about how many people are "guessing" voice control functionality on the TV from this invite. I thought that was the one feature we already knew about the Apple TV – a touch remote with voice search functionality.
