I just want an ATV with:

•App store
•Freedom from a Mac, meaning no need to have iTunes on to see anything on my media library.
•Ability to plug a HD to store media.

Side note:
• New update iMacs
• Stand alone TB 5k displays and update MacPro to handle these displays. (long shot here)

Okay, folks, we all love Apple here but let us remember: This is Apple. It would be prudent for all of us to keep our expectations low. Like iPhone battery life low. Apple Watch sales low. MacBook ingenuity low.

Instead of making the phone heavier and thicker to accommodate a bigger battery while also improving one-handed use and comfortability they've settled on a target battery life of x hours and have chosen to design around that goal by focusing on software and hardware efficiency. What? That is not innovation. Why would a mobile device such as a phone need to be thinner and lighter? Just give us the iPhone 4 but with a five-inch display. Call it a day.

Instead we can expect a slightly better iPhone 6. Faster CPU and GPU are a given but Force Touch? The geniuses at Apple invested millions of dollars in developing a new technology that accomplishes the same thing as a long press? Ah, but then again, this is Apple, a company that "created" a new category of device called the "iPad." No, no, it's not a iPod touch at 9.7 inches. No. It's an "iPad."

Oh. And rose gold. To that, I quote a legendary visionary: "The one thing Apple's providing now is leadership in colors."

As for the Apple TV. I can count on a billion amputated fingers how many people are just dying for a new Apple TV. Apple is just fragmenting the television viewing experience. They're not solving anything. Chromecast is all you need. Apple TV is good but Chromecast is better and better is better than good. It just plugs right into your television. Could not be any more simpler. Apple, with all their pontificating on simplicity, couldn't figure that one out. Sorry, Apple, but boxes are dead and Google is innovating the way toward a brighter—and vastly more affordable—future.

"If it's not an iPhone (16 GB), it's not an iPhone (16 GB)." And exactly how is this a problem, Cupertino...?
Part of me wants to unpack this, part of me thinks you're trolling. But mostly I'm baffled by the depth of misunderstanding you have for the rhetorical situation you are in here. People who don't attack you will ignore you. Screaming at a brick wall would be as productive, and would likely make you feel better.

Does anyone thing that Apple will add a pass-thru HDMI port on the apple TV to connect your cable box to it, like the Xbox One?

Makes sense as you can get the TV guide info from apple that integrates into iTunes so you can buy movies or tv shows you just watched on TV.

Also, I don't see the Apple TV remote changing at all that comes in the box. But can see a brand new Apple TV app to put on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

I think they are trying to replace a cable box, not enable one.

I think the larger venue and its ability to hold a good music event is all it is, BUT what I hope the reason for the larger venue is....maybe Apple has actually secretly made deals for TV content, and the rumors that it's not launching until 2016 was just to throw everyone off.

^THIS!!! I want to be able to plug in an external hard drive and go without issues. Instead I have to have a tower dedicated to media that is always running. It's not a huge deal because I got a cheapo PC that just runs iTunes, but it would be better to simply plug in the HDD and go.

But it the TV networks won't co-operate, this may be the next best thing to do.

I think an OTA antenna port is the best way to get around this but both would be ok to cover everyone. It's in Apple's better interest to do what they can to cut the cord on cable so people change to getting their content through Apple. Enabling people to keep their cable box isn't helpful to Apple.

i said that but i guess my accent made it say "siri give me head' and it said "watch your language" lol

Someone should take a look at previous invitations and see whether they were actually hints at what was being introduced. My guess is no, and all this reading into a few colors and shapes is breeding speculations that are crazy.

I totally suspect the Apple marketing team to browse the forum here and piss themselves laughing at some of the speculations about what an edge here or a corner there might mean.

Found this page on CNet...most of them do have something to do with the products released/announced.

Activated Siri for this and was shocked at how unnatural she still sounds. The way she stresses parts of the sentence is beyond weird. They need to work on this, seriously.

Besides, it hardly ever got me right. Half of the time she got "Siri give me a hand", "Siri give me a head" or "Siri give me an end". Disappointing, haven't used that in more than a year. I thought they'd get it right by now.

Is there something similar to the concept of "Debbie Downer" in the Netherlands? Because that's you right now.

Haha, I liked that. What is happening is that everyone is getting totally out of control because of a nicely designed invitation and on the 9th of September, when the presentation is done, everybody will go back to the useless whining:
  • Battery life sucks
  • Where is the new Mac Pro?
  • The Mac mini has not been updated in ages
  • My camera protrudes
  • What the f**k is with this making it thinner obsession
  • The Apple Watch has no purpose
  • Samsung copies everything
  • Apple is abandoning the pros
  • We need photos updated to get aperture functions.
You get the picture.

And there's something wrong with that? Feel free to take a break from MacRumors if you are bothered by people enjoying a little discourse. We don't need your color commentary and disdain. Maybe if you visit a coffee shop you'll be a little less surly...

Nice to see some confirmation that Apple has a better relationship with Microsoft than with Google. I'm guessing the live-stream will have even more buffering with Windows users live-streaming the event as well :D

Maybe I'm late to this party and this has been replied to a hundred times, but you can do that right now. Go to general settings, then click on Siri and you can figure it out from there.

Hey Siri only works when you are plugged in. That's what they are complaining about.
