Dare say this is on here a few times already but i've just noticed that you get the full sms tone for a new message even when you have a seperate text conversation open.

I've noticed this too, I believe it's a new 4.2.1 feature as before it used to play the less obtrusive "incoming text sound".

Not our favorite hidden secret, the beloved Phone Favorites shortcut has been demoted. Instead of the double tap—which now brings up the task manager—you have to double-tap and hold. Single-tap holding of course triggers Voice Control. Now, what the hell happened to double-tap for iPod controls? Anyone know? Apparently double-tapping the home button when music is playing will still bring up the iPod controls when the screen is locked.

So uhhh how do we enable this?

The iPod controls are now in the task manager: when you double tap, you'll see the task manager; swipe from left to right and you'll see the iPod widget.

This changes depending upon what music player you have running, but default is the iPod widget.

Yeah but the double tap and hold. What's that about? I'd like that map to the camera.

You cannot map this button to anything else. Only double tap by itself

I would like a way to add pictures to the wallpaper photo album that natively exists on the iPhone. I've downloaded several wallpaper photos from different apps and have created some myself. It would be nice if I were able to organize all of them together in one album.

Apple makes both the iPhone hardware and the operating system, everything works together seamlessly and intelligently.

According to the documents you will see applications Quick Launch are not necessarily what's going on, and their closure by using the above method does not save or close the application processor applications running in the background, so you will see in this apps are the icons of all the questions you have raced the last time you use your phone. This is a quick way to start something you use frequently.

Lock Screen shows wrong album art

• Now if you bring up the iPod controls on the lock screen when the music is paused, it will show the album art. Previously it only showed the album art if the music was playing.

Actually, I have noticed that it will display the wrong album/wrong artist if you have more than one song named the same as the song you were playing (or paused).

For example, I was listening to Melissa Ferrick's "I will arrive" and the splash screen will show artwork from Simon & Garfunkel's album The Essential Simon & Garfunkel, and says it is their song "I will Arrive". Which, doesn't exist, they don't have a song by that name. Then if I play Melissa Ferrick's "Come on Life" lock screen shows Natalie Cole's The Best of Natalie Cole "Come on Life", oh, but yeah, she didn't do a song by that name on that album.

So I experimented. No matter who or what I play, the lock screen will randomly pick another artist/album artwork to display. It appears that it will use the same artwork to display for all the songs for a particular album. Ie, all songs from Melissa Ferricks Skinnier,Faster,Live album appear to link to The Essential Simon & Garfunkel. Her Freedom Album displays Natalie Cole's Best of Album. If I play Adele's Rolling in the Deep - single, it display's the album artwork for My Name is Joe. If I play a song from Joe's album, the lock screen displays the artwork for The Donna Summer Anthology. If I play a song by Simon & Garfunkel it displays a Heart album cover.

This is just really plain annoying.

I never noticed this until just recently. I have an iPhone 4 and am on IOS 4.2.1

I make use of the accessibility settings quite often.
If you set it up to triple-click to make the screen black-on-white (/negative) and then switch to camera, you have an easy way of looking at photograph negatives correctly if you hold it up to a light or bright white computer screen.
Saves scanning it onto the computer only to find that it isn't what you wanted... :)

Don't think anyone pointed this out yet, but iOS 4.3's lock screen "slide to unlock" bar is slightly more translucent. Looks good.

Pics??

I don't notice it...so it must not have been worth changing... ;)

No. Sorry, that was a glitch with the iPod controls. It's the same, just not in that screenshot.

Gizmodo link on page 1 suggests "double tap and hold" to bring up favorites. This doesn't work on the Verizon iPhone. What am I missing?
