Thanks! I was hoping that the search function would work within each set of messages, as in looking for certain words, MMS, etc. This is kind of disappointing. I don't have that many contacts, maybe 10, so it's not that hard to find the person I want. Not necessary, IMO, unless I'm missing something.

Um, this 'user' has likely forgotten more about software development than you'll ever know, though I'm not an expert on this platform. Also, I'm not 'pissed', just pointing out my observations during the beta program on iOS4. After a while of having a dozen or so apps on the dock, I would get the 'low memory' popup. Now I'll allow that it could be that was an early beta issue and the GM may well manage memory and apps correctly but characterizing apps in the dock as nothing more than links to recently executed apps isn't correct.

When it comes to OS X, Free RAM is wasted RAM.

OS X aggressively preloads, caches, and even leaves information from closed apps in RAM so that they load faster if you have to open them again.

If an application needs more RAM than is available, it will make room.

This isn't 1994, there is no reason to have a large amount of free RAM available for the system.

I thought we were going to be able to add words to the iPhone's dictionary? I can't find the option anywhere.

You are missing something, a couple hundred contacts. Once you have that you'll realize how nice spotlight is.

I mentioned this in another thread. Following instructions on where it should be located like on the beta version it isn't there.

Phone finally has a tune when new Mail arrives on my Gmail account. Something I had been wanting for awhile....

Don't know if anyone's said his yet, but safari pages get saved in the cache so if you go back or forward a page that's already been loaded, it's a snap.

I have a 3G. I've switched on SMS character count and still don't see it? Am I doing something wrong?

check out "Places" in your iphoto app. sweet little update!

That is scary. So there is a gps stamp on each photo?

I'm away from my sync computer... I've been wondering if "places" will work with photos from the camera roll (that you take) or only for those from iPhoto.

Anyone have a chance to take a peak at this? Thanks in advance.

Yes, it works with photos you've taken, on the camera roll.

It does look for certain words. You can search all your messages for a word like "book" and the messages with that word will pop up. This is great! (and all worth having my phone on a desk all day - this took like 8 hours)

Having fun playing with this stuff while I'm meant to be getting ready in the morning :D

One question, though: I enabled the character count in SMS, but where does it show when I write a message? I can't see it.

I like that it's (supposedly) there, though, yet another jailbreak feature gone official :)

EDIT: Nevermind, just read the post above :p

As you can see, even the 'idle' apps are taking up memory.

thanks for that, its good to know my source was inccorect.
