I wonder what this is.:confused:

iOS4. The message bubbles are blue initially when i open a message after searching and then it fades to the default green. I managed to get a screenshot quickly before it faded.

As you can see, even the 'idle' apps are taking up memory.

I'm not sure the answer's quite as simple as your screenshots suggest: take a look at them more closely. The ‘wired’ section of the first is 49.93MB, of the second it's 48.70MB – despite the huge change in the appearance of the pie chart. In fact, if you add up all of the four different RAM totals in the first screenshot, the total comes to much less than the second.

Thus, I'm not saying that you're wrong per se – I'm just saying that the app from which the screenshots were taken appears to be giving out duff information, so we can't use it determine which is the right answer either way.

Going back to the thread's initial topic, I'm intrigued to note from Apple's changelog that apparently visual voicemail messages ‘can’ reside locally even after they've been deleted from the server. The problem is though, I don't know how to make this happen – has anyone seen some kind of setting regarding this? Or I'm wondering if it is now simply the default behaviour… I've always wished voicemail messages would stay on my phone for more than a month so I'd like to get this feature working (or know for certain that it is working!).

I've seen that, too, and I'm pretty sure that whatever word you were searching for was found in that message.

OK, so I copied a tracking no. into my notes today and went to copy it into the online tracking section in the browser. If you press and hold the tracking no. in notes it now comes up with an option to track package!! Pretty cool!

safari

it's true. data detectors now handle tracking numbers and open this magical new invention called the internet

ok, well I've had my tracking number in notes for a couple days now, and I've got the iOS 4 update. I click and hold, and all it says is call/text/create new contact/add to existing. Why doesn't it for me then?

because you didn't say the magic word

i don't know why it didn't work for you, my crystal ball is on the blink again, but it was mentioned in the keynote, has been documented many times by the tech blogs and been shown to work by lots of people. it's definately there.

have you tried switching it off and on again?

i know it was mentioned in the keynote, but i always thought they had to be tagged a certain way first. my tracking number is just a bunch of numbers, doesn't have any other information posted in Notes. could this be why? it's not really marked as a tracking number?

yes, i've switched phone off an back on

Oh snap! It does work. I doubted you too, but wow... That's pretty impressive. Does it work with FedEx, UPS, etc? Or just UPS? (All I have is a UPS number)

you should be able too. i've had shared calendars on my iphone with google for a while now. unless i misunderstood your question.

I guess I should've been more clear. I'm using IMAP sync, not Google Sync. On iPhone 3.0 I already had an Exchange account configured so now I'm trying to determine if I should switch my iPhone email configuration from IMAP Sync to Google Sync and it appears the differences are the ability to sync more than just the main calendar and to sync contacts.

If anyone cares to discover the differences between the two sync options, I've created a new thread.

That is scary. So there is a gps stamp on each photo?

There's always been GPS stamps on the photos. The only difference is that now you can see them. Oh, and they added a setting where you turn the GPS stamp off for photos you take. That's new, too.

So it's much better now. Before they just happened and you couldn't see them. Now you can see them and you can turn them off.

On/Off switch in the settings menu under Network? Settings app now remembers what settings page you were on, and with quick app switching view double-home-button-press makes it pretty easy to switch.

Considering there were several comments after yours Magsec4 that completely ignored what you said, I thought it needed to be repeated. You can disable 3G and force Edge only under Settings>General>Network>Enable 3G. And changing this is quick with fast app switching. No jailbreak is needed.
