not sure if this has been mentioned or not...but now you can watch youtube videos in portrait mode...not like anyone would want to but, thought I'd share that.

The in-page video playback in Safari doesn't work for me. Was that feature available only during the beta?

I tried this on a page that had a link to Youtube video, and on apple's trailers page that had a link to one of the trailers. In both cases when I pressed the play button on theimage, it opened the full screen quicktime player.

I don't think you can. It's the default music player. However, I don't thinks it's really running per se, but gives you the ability for quickly controlling your iPod. If you had double-clicking controlling your iPod controls before, it's just the same thing.
Ok Thank you. I know its not playing any music, but its still running in the background. I guess there is no way to turn that off.

It's not running in the background, you don't have a way of telling that and neither do I. But when it's not playing, it's might as well be turned off. It's probably doing the exact thing it was doing in iPhone 2G, except now the controls are on this page.

Photo Gallery and MMS bug

Anyone have an issue where when you snap or save a photo to your gallery, it doesn't show up but if you open the camera, it will show it as a thumbnail?

Also, when I try to send a mms to two people, the names disappear but it still will send to the correct people.

Hope this isn't just me.

not sure if this is new but double clicking home button when screen is locked brings up music control.

In maps, hit the locate button twice and it will move around with you and show which way the top of your iPhone is facing. If this has been discussed, sorry. Feeling too lazy to search. Been playing with my iPhone 4 all day!

I hate to break it to you but that feature was in the 3G S. It's called a compass.

Instead of having to save one picture at a time I the mail app you can now save them all at once.

Also (not sure if this is new or not) when moving an email it shows you what email is being moved

Both of these were present before iOS 4.

Also, one of the first posts said that movies now play in Safari without opening fullscreen in Quicktime? It doesn't work for me.

How do I turn on the feature in email were it shows the contact's picture?

When your email is up, you need to click on HIDE in the top right corner, and the details will become hidden, so the only thing you'll see is the picture from the Contacts. It will take it a few minutes, but it's pretty neat!

In-Page Video Playback in Mobile Safari
Instead of bumping you to a QuickTime mini app every time you stumble upon compatible video, the new iPhone Safari browser does what the iPad does, and shows you the video right there on the page. If you want to go full screen, you give it a tap. It's your choice now.
I just checked this and it still goes to the dedicated window that fills up the whole page. Am I not understanding this correctly or what? I am on a iPhone 4

Has anyone noticed this bug? It's been around since the first OS... you'd think after 4 iterations of it they would have sorted it. I'm running iOS4 on an iPhone 3GS...

If a third-party app is using audio in background, you see that app's icon in place of the standard iPod icon. That's why it's there.

When your phone is locked, double clicking still brings up iPod Control.

If your on the homescreen, double clicking brings up the multitask dock.
Now slide Right to get to iPod Control and lock thing.

Took me a while to discover... thought I'd share it :p

how do you get the emoji stuff working i cant find it as an option in my settings anywhere

Some people say that there is an Emoji keyboard (under Settings -> General -> Keyboard -> International Keyboards -> Add New Keyboard...).

That did not work for me, so I used the "Spell Number" App, which I downloaded a year or so ago. Then, after following the instructions, the Emoji keyboard was available (in the Settings as described above).

The hell? Never seen that before... How'd you do that?

Has happened with every update that's come with the iPhone 3GS... normally happens when I send an SMS and a balance reminder comes up (you're balance is x screen) and if I let the phone goes to 'sleep' with that screen up, when I wake it and go into the homescreen all the icons get messed up. If I open an app then go back to the homescreen it's fine.
