Well I was lucky enough to score one at a local Apple store.

My 2cents..

Small, very very small. Which personally is a blessing and a curse. Its great looking and a complement to the phone, but at the same time it just looks way to small on my head. I don't see myself leaving this on as any sort of fashion statement. (Not that these are designed as such)

and who think headsets are fashion ? hahaha , its 100% ridiculous to wear those things on the ear all the time... use when driving , now those guys who "wear" this all day, its just plain ridiculous and make no sense.. they think they are on minority report. nobody need to wear this all day , unless u are someones secretary.. i see those guys on the mall with those things on.. i just laugh.. people walking on the mall talking with no one.

Nothing screams "I'm a douchebag!" like someone walking around with a bluetooth headset in their ear when they aren't actually on the phone. It's like, "I'm so important and everyone wants to talk to me that I can't even take the time to take the phone from my ear!"

agreed. it's moved well beyond silly and is now just plain annoying all
the people walking around with these in their ear 24-7. i work in customer
service and it's amazing how many people walk right up to me and
attempt to talk to me AND whoever's stuck in their ear at the same time.
i say "attempt" because i refuse to be dealt with like that and just ignore
them until their done.

not saying these headsets are TOTALLY evil. they have their place.
but too many of you are walking around looking like consumer cyborgs.
there's a big world out there waiting to be experienced when you're ready
to get off the phone.

or, if you MUST wear these things all day, PLEASE at least be aware of it and remove it when it could be a burden to others.
EXAMPLE: at a movie recently, a woman with bluetooth headset sat 3 rows ahead of me (and in front of about 2/3 of the audience). SHE (and the
lucky other 1/3) enjoyed the movie with little distraction. THE REST OF US,
did our best to enjoy the movie while trying to ignore the flashing blue light
coming off that woman's ear the entire time. in a dark room this is VERY distracting. and if you wear glasses (which produce glare) it's even more so.

so please...at the very least....take it off in a movie. unless it has no light
on it and you're affraid someone might see you NOT looking like an idiot for 2 hours.

I hate them. It's the equivalent of wearing phones, pda's whatever on you belt.

You look like a tool.

However, as it is now illegal to hold a cellphone up to your ear and use it while driving, looks like I have to get one. The earbuds are a bad solution for the car and the speakerphone is a joke.

People with real power don't wear those stupid things. They make other people wear them. They also tend to have other people answer their cell phones.

Funny how people that wear them seem to think it makes them important... go figure.

Wow, such anger...

I keep my Jabra on while driving, since it's dangerous to fumble for the headset when a call comes in. There have been times when I completely forgot I had it on, long after I had parked the car and walked to wherever I was going. Yes, it's that comfortable.

So no, not everyone who wears one is trying to look important

It's a beautiful piece, and I have no issue with the price. I just don't know how much I would use it. If I bought an iPhone, would I feel compelled to use it for every call just to limit screen-to-face time? Even if the bud can't stay in my ear for very long(like the headphones)?

Do I have to wait 2-4 weeks?

I just went to the Apple web site to buy one of these gadgets and they aren't shipping until 2-4 weeks. What the?

Am I to assume that the Apple stores are carrying them since there are obviously those who have their hot little hands on them?

I drive around in a squad car all day and I need the hands-free to operate my computer.. I have used the ear buds that came with the iphone but then I can't hear the police radio (umm, that's a problem!).

I need one sooner than 2-4 weeks.

Day 2 with this thing:

It will probably go back. To address to earlier comments. One, the ear piece is actually larger then an iPod earpiece.

Second person who said you shouldn't leave it on all the time. Usually I would agree with you, however with this headset it takes so much messing around to the get the thing in your ear and just right, you could miss the call till all is said and done.

Its just too small.

Sound Quality is very inconsisitant. Yesterday I made a few practice calls and there was a ton of static. Later in the day though I was able to make serveral with no issues.

This morning on my way to work, it sounded like someone was running a hair dryer inside the thing. At least the iPhone makes it easy to switch over to the phone.

All in all chances of this going back to the Apple store are sitting at 75%.

RE: ihattwick

Why didn't you just ask her to remove it? I'm sure she had no idea it was distracting, and probably forgot she had it on. I have a rule for myself- you're not allowed to be annoyed at someone's inconsiderateness until you ask them to stop. If you bring it to their attention, any reasonable person will stop being inconsiderate- and if they still are obnoxious, then you have an even better story!

I read a blog not long ago about a guitarist whose entire performance was ruined by two inconsiderate people talking really loud right in front of them. The entire audience and guitarist were glaring at the talking people for the first half of the set- then as soon as someone says something to them they immediately stop and look embarressed. They just weren't aware of being inconsiderate- and we've all done that sometime or other.

fair enough. i do agree with you.

however, in this instance the woman in question showed up after the
film had already started. and as i said she was several rows ahead of
me. and it was a crowded theater. so asking her to remove it would've
involved interrupting the movie, stepping over a half dozen people to get
out of my row, and then stepping over another half dozen people to reach
the woman on her own row, talking to her, and then returning. that
just wouldn't do. and it all just would've been so much easier if the woman
could simply TAKE THE PHONE OUT OF HER EAR FOR 90 MINUTES WHILE
SHE WATCHES A MOVIE. or at the very least, put some tape on that
damn light if she can't live without it.

i agree that we must take responsibility for some of the things that
bother us and step up to the plate. but that still doesn't excuse people
who are simply oblivious. is the woman mean or cruel? not really...
she probably didn't know. is she a self absorbed moron that's a little too
fascinated with her own toys? absolutely.

When I see that, all I can think is...... iBorg

...and iTumor.

Do these work on other cell phones, or are there "codes" that locks them onto iPhone only?

You could always pick up another brand. I use the one I had with my Moto Razr and it works with the iPhone as well. PLUS it will probably cost you less than $129 ;)

Larger ear piece . . . that alone (besides the price) does not make this attractive for me LOL

i havnt been able to find out if you can actually use the bluetooth headset to listen to the ipod portion of the iPhone?

The iPhone does not support Bluetooth A2DP profile (stereo audio), so you cannot listen to music except possibly over the SCO/eSCO which sounds terrible!
