I liked it. My first thought when seeing it though was how sterile the iPhone looked compared to the way phones were romanticized in the previous montage. There is something sexy about the shape of a typical corded phone when held and the way it connects people. I also noticed no mention of the name iPhone! It's a longshot but I hope they think of another name.......

Did the word iPhone appear in the ad? I didn't see it.

Did anyone see the word "iPhone" anywhere in that ad? Are they changing its name to "Hello"? That's all I saw.

It's also interesting to see they're definitely taking a different approach than they have with iPods and the like. Much more of a grown-up appeal - already treating it like an icon too, it seems.

Yeah. Interesting, given all the endless Cisco v. Apple crap, no mention of the 'iPhone' name. Take that, Cisco.

Nice spot. Really had my attention and I was pleasantly surprised when the iPhone showed it's face. Skip the name & go straight to icon. Typical Apple.

Also, does this now end the 'iPhone in May' chatter?
No?

the is not that horid to be honest .. its just .... really .. nothing special ..
the only good thing is that it fits nicely with the movie/oscars theme ..thats all.

if you talk of innovation ... well .. ipod/itunes ads are what i call genuine innovation ... this ad is .. as i said ... fairly ordinary ..

Is Apple giving the fans a homework assignment?

Fill in the following for each 'Hello':

Hello #:
Actor Name:
Movie:
Character Name:

I wonder if we can squeeze any iPhone info out of it...

iPhone was never mentioned. As it was undoubtably in production during the Cisco trademark thing it probably was smart to hedge their bets and not mention the name just in case. The world knows exactly what an iPhone is by now. The media frenzy is so huge even my parents know about it!:D

Probably not. In all reality, even if Apple were planning on releasing it early, they'd probably do so as a surprise.. like "Oh btw, come buy your iPhone now.. a month early" - They wouldn't just plug the surprise date in a commercial. Sooo.. you'll still have those hoping and mumbling rumors about an earlier release.

At any rate, I still don't think we'll see the iPhone before June.. heck, it'll probably be the end of June that it actually ships (just look at :apple:TV and the second gen shuffle when it was released). Not often that Apple bumps UP their releases.
