One reader submits this casting call for an Apple commercial to be shot between April 18-22:

************ has an immediate need for people of all ages (5-105
years old) to come to a non-union commercial casting for Apple Computers
this Sunday, April 13. We are looking for people who are not afraid to
sing their favorite song with lots of energy. No need to be good singers.
No shy people allowed.. If you are selected you will be flown to Los
Angeles to shoot the commercial between April 18-22 (so you must be
available during that time. . . . . .\"

The reader's conclusion was that this would filmed for Apple's rumored Music download service.

Well that settles it for me

With all that has been put out about this music service, this settles it in my mind, it's going to happen. And I can't wait

No singing Jeff Goldblum?! :p

Seriously, this should be an interesting commercial. Hopefully it'll show off how cool and easy to use this new service will be.

The news of the music service is comin in fast I see. This is definately exciting and I guess means it will happen. Any thoughts on how the UMG purchase will affect it?

This is great :)! This is the closest to confirmation I think we've seen. Sure, there have been snippets in the NY Times and whatnot, but this is concerte from Apple.

How in the world do you sign up for it!?!?!

Please - whomever knows, please please PM me or just post it. I would love to know how to sign up for the casting call (as I'm sure others do as well).

Thanks!

heh... this wasn't posted to be a casting call for macrumors readers... but to pass along that there is a commercial being filmed. I don't know the details regarding who gets these casting calls... but I doubt they expected it to be sent out to the mac community in general. :)

I think that we, as a community, should sing the Ramones' cover of 'Wonderful World,' like with the 12" PowerBook.;)

YAY!

my school district has thier spring break during then! i woyuld love to be in a commercial. please, if anyone know s how to sign up, PM me or post it.
thanks

doesn't seem like it would be for the music service. why would you have people singing songs without something playing the song for them to sing to? most people sing along with songs, just just acapella(?). therefore i think a iPod commercial is on the surface.

is it not actually just Joey Ramone from his last solo album before he died....ok ok i'm being a smart arse ;-) I'd dread to think how bad we'd all sound....don't think it'd get Apple any sales hehe...do we have to wear leather jackets and torn jeans too?

Non-union?

Should be an offer for both union and non-union -- otherwise Apple will get a black-eye for this. Lot's of union-folk out of work who aren't "big-named".

dude, if you wear the leather jackets and the torn jeans, you gotta have the long black wigs and the cop sunglasses!!

-HEY HO LET'S GO!-

timing question

If we assume that the commercial is in fact for the supposed coming music service and we further assume that the commercial is meant to air on or near the launch time of the new service (I confess I have little reason to make the latter assumption) then what can we infer is the time frame for the launch of the new service?

I don't know anything about commercials. How long would it take to cast, film, edit, a commercial?

I guesws I got the impression that the music service was coming Real Soon Now but if they haven't even cast for the ads yet, then maybe it's still quite a way off?
