If you were planning to purchase AirPods as a last-minute holiday gift, it may be challenging to find a pair in time for Christmas.

Apple's wireless earphones are currently estimated for delivery in early January if ordered today from Apple's online store in the United States, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom, and several other countries.

AirPods are also currently out of stock at most of Apple's retail stores around the world, and at authorized resellers such as Best Buy, Macy's, Target, Walmart, and Verizon in the United States. Bottom line: they're hard to find anywhere.

At $159, AirPods are a more affordable gift idea than many Apple products, which may be causing stronger demand than Apple can keep up with.

If you are still hunting for AirPods, there may be one option. AT&T appears to have stock on its website, but you may have to pay an extra $14.95 for express delivery within 2-3 business days, and there is no guarantee they'll arrive before Christmas.

Other gifts available by Christmas for under $200, and that an Apple fan is likely to appreciate, include the Apple TV 4K, BeatsX, an official Apple-branded iPhone case, Apple Watch bands, or simply an Apple Store or Apple Music gift card.

Apple's online store is now offering free next-day delivery for all in-stock items ordered by 3 p.m. local time on December 22 in the United States.

I already see them everyday in my commute to the city (big metro). These are becoming the new white headphones that iPods popularized.

Wow, until today I thought MR actually could guarantee shipping times from AT&T. Just another day of heartbreak, I guess.

I am waiting on seeing if they start giving the wireless charging case along with. Not going to buy just for wireless charging, the little LED is the attraction. Otherwise, they are available in my country, for roughly $200 (price conversion from Rupee to USD).

My wife got me them as an early Christmas present. I like them, but the double tap to pause/play is a bit finicky.

I don't care for the white look. When they come in black I will consider them.

These are the best wireless earphones I have ever used. I am not surprised demand is off-the-charts this holiday season. Every Apple fan will want to own a pair and they make a great gift for anyone who doesn't own them yet.

It’s one of the few Apple products that have got me genuinely excited and I have that old – Apple feel to them. I’m a little surprised they’re still having supply chain issues a year later though.

This was all of a sudden. New version is coming out soon. Nothing to do with popularity.

I really don’t like them - the design or the function; or the sound on testing them.

But clearly a lot of people do like them. I guess head/ear-phones are as much a personal choice as other items like watch straps or jackets or lunch.

And their popularity is a good thing, as it might encourage Apple to create new and more diverse head/ear-phone solutions.

I’ve just now started seeing some of these in the wild. Still not sure how I feel about how they look.

i hope for a gen 2 that has
    - more colors options
    - adjust volume from them by slide up or down
    - bluetooth 5 but this is not a must have for a gen 2 since the current one has a very stable connection

It’s funny. I’m willing to drop more than $1000 on an iPhone X but not another $159 in addition to that on AirPods. I’d love to have a pair but I just know that I’m going to lose one or both of them. I might as well take $160 and light it on fire.

How well does “Find My AirPods” work? I have enough trouble keeping track of my Apple TV remote, iPhone and Apple Watch. I wish Apple would use Bluetooth to allow users to have the iPhone emit an audio tone if you’re looking for one of those other devices and are near it but can’t see it.

If people keep on losing them, they have to buy again.
