So are you saying that all of us who have purchased and use them have been duped by Apple?
No, what he appears to be implying is that people (especially people on this forum) will pay a large amount of money for something that costs a small fraction to manufacture even if it means they have to go into debt.
Yes, I have bought a lot of apple branded products; ever since I bought my first Mac Classic (1991).

great product. Reasonable price. I don’t think people realize how popular they are

Hopefully next generation comes in black as well as white.

I already see them everyday in my commute to the city (big metro). These are becoming the new white headphones that iPods popularized.

Really? I still get those „look at this fool!“ stare when i wear mine every day on my way to work. In fact i just landed in Barcelona and i saw two guys pointing at me giggling but whatever, they r convenient as f

Still not understanding how they sell that well based on form facto alone. They’re hideous.

I feel like they r hideous on purpose just like the notch. It makes them stand out in public for sure.

Who ever lost an Airpod? Never heard a single case.

Depends on your ears. Mine fall out almost daily. One time i fell asleep on the bus and i heard the drop and already imagined 80€ bucks going to waste. Another time they feel out of my ear as i was crossing the street and nearly got run over looking for them. Thankfully they were caught in my scarf

Don‘t like the AirPods but I can understand the excitement for them - I have the Beats X (which are surprisingly good even for an Audiophile) and Bluetooth headphones are just great. Absolutely no going back.

I love my AirPods.

What they should do in the next firmware update is add the following if the can:-

Hold finger on left AirPod and volume slowly decreases.
Hold finger on right AirPod and volume slowly increases.

This was all of a sudden. New version is coming out soon. Nothing to do with popularity.
get effing real. of course it has to do with popularity -- the damn things have been backordered nearly the entirety of their existence. yes, i know that bothers some people who hate the fact that apple makes awesome stuff that people love.

Is this because by the time they’ve restocked it’ll be with the case that charges wirelessly?
That seems like a reasonable idea.

Imagine if the new case version was available NOW? Many who bought the old version as gifts would try to exchange them NOW. Chaos would reign. There'd be insufficient stock of the new version, new version prices would escalate and the scalpers would flock the stores. At the same time, retailers would be left holding excess returned old stock that they'd have to clear-out at a discount. Retailers would lose big-time and stuck customers would be angry they'd paid full price for the 'old' version.

OTOH, If Apple releases the new case version AFTER Christmas (once all the gifts have been opened and used) then the gift recipients will be less likely to return them (because they're actually a pretty cool product). Chaos averted.

The recipients might even give Apple an extra $60 to buy just the new case?

I bought them on a whim. I haven't been able to get the tapping to work correctly, but it's: pull them out of the case, put them in my ears, good to go.
They fit comfortably even with woolen hats.

My only complaint is the 3 hours battery life. I get much better with my Backbeat fits, but then I have the strap around my head.

Easy to believe. This is the best Apple product since the original iPhone. This does beg the question. They're able to ramp up production for the iPhone X and meet demand within one month, but still can't keep up with AirPods a year later? Either the AirPods are seeing demand of proportions unseen any any product of any kind in history ... or the iPhone X is just a meh product.
Or they aren’t producing enough of them to keep up with whatever the level of demand is.

Always good to burn customers right after the holiday return policy expires :p
