As an ereader on the go. I had a Z Fold 3 for a while and I used the Kindle app a lot more and doom scrolled a lot less. That said, if the device has the same issues with being fragile I won’t go back to one. If they were as hard to break as a slab than I would go back to one.
I am sure Apple will do better than Samsung does as always. Despite late in the game, Apple always prioritizes the quality of their products. Let other competitors have the first new product generation, Apple waits until the targeted new products mature and in the meantime learning how to make them better quality than other competitors’ products. Customers thank Apple for this.

With none of the stability or rigidity or toughness of an iPad.
I trust Apple will make iFold with the same stability and toughness like an iPad. After all, iFold is the marriage between iPhone and mini iPad. A child product generally inherits its parent genes. 😊

we would never use it in practice. Windows-based multitasking on a touch device feels unnatural, specially when the screen is smaller than that of an iPad mini.
You may be surprised that others will use multitasking in practice when iFold comes. There are many possibilities with foldable phone.

I would genuinely like to hear a single use case or relative advantage of a foldable phone over the existing form factor.
A lot of possibilities for use like using a mini iPad and off course, using it as a phone which we cannot do with an iPad. After all, it is a hybrid mini iPad and iPhone in one pocketable device. Users can only bring ONE device that capable doing for phone and mini tablet. That is a major innovation, evolution and transformation of user experience!

If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em. Here’s my iPhone Fold use case. Actually my mom’s.

She likes to read books on her iPad mini, which she has to take around with her in addition to her phone.

A single device that acts like a phone in the pocket and the hand, but then folds out to a reading device with the perfect sized screen wold be a game-changer for her.

A bigger display when you need it comes to mind. Especially with the recent Samsung "try-fold".
Reports of people having used these phones for more than 5 years already exist. If you'd actually be interested, you'd care to look up this kind of info instead of posting a rhetorical comment like that.

Are we actually thinking that Apple only now is working on the colors of these devices, the science behind it and who can reliably manufacture and anodize the frames? Doesn't the sound like stuff already worked out last year?

That is my thought. Black is great too since the color will blend with the screens and camera lenses.
I can help you choose. Just go and compare the black iPhone Air to the silver iPhone Air and take note of the scuffs on the black iPhone Air with the silver still being pristine by comparison. 😎. The black in sure will look nice but remember we will be carrying those things around.

I trust Apple will improve the foldable operating system can do all the same time gradually.
I wouldn't. They can't just copy what already exists, but they can also hardly be innovative this late in the game. Considering they couldn't even figure out iOS 26 or multitasking on the iPad last year and are still missing QOA features that went a looooong way in Android in he last 2 decades, like a universal back swipe, I wouldn't hold my breath.

Apple’s obsession with “tasteful” understated colors is literally leaving money in the table. One of the reasons the iPhone 17 Pro rebounded in China is because consumers were drawn to the bright orange colorway.

If it looks like that mock up, that's probably what I will get. Although, I will miss the Pacific Blue that my 12 Pro has.
Keep it. Use it at home for smart home functions and games to preserve the battery of your new device or in your vehicle for offline music.

We will have to wait and see, won’t we?
