I feel the same way. My iPad 1 is still an amazing device that does everything I need. Gonna be pretty hard for me to come up with something after the "but...".

To me it comes down to price, and availability. If I can get it day one or two, I am in! If not I'll wait a while and still enjoy my gen 1 iPad....!

good luck !:)

The reflections are so wrong it's near irritating me

Definitely not winning photoshop awards for that pic lol

In your beginning lighting class you get an A.

Don't even consider going into marketing though, stick with JCP flyers and such.

Seeing as how Apple loves kids, education, etc, and seeing how kids immediately identify with the Home button, it makes me believe that the Home button ain't going anywhere, anytime soon.

So not like Apple to do that.

But that's exactly what Apple did with the iPod, i.e., replaced the moving click wheel with a touch sensitive one. I'm not suggesting Apple will have a touch sensitive home button, in fact, I think Apple is moving away from buttons as much as possible, but it's not entirely out of the realm.

1) It will be called iPad HD.
2) A model of the iPad 2 will continue to be sold at a reduced price. (Perhaps as low as $349.)

You can pretty much do everything the home button does with gestures.

Few possibilities here.

1. We could "see" both an ATV and iPad release simultaneously. I think I am more excited about an all new ATV than the iPad 3. Haven't heard squat about what a new ATV might be able to do in comparison to the plethora of rumors about the iPad3.
2. Wonder if Apple ditched the physicalhome button?
3. The picture was photochopped and some idiot left the hime button off and Steve Jobs wasn't there to catch the mistake. :D

You would be inadvertently touching it all the time.

Well, the new capacitive button could automagically appear on the center bottom of whatever orientation the tablet is in. No more button on the left or right side when in landscape mode.

I think it would be an awesome idea, get the button out of hands way in landscape, and it could be transparent to developers.

Maybe Apple is ditching the home button for more reliance on the gestures that they introduced. After getting used to pinching, using the home button seemed less intuitive. Plus, when holding the iPad in landscape, I frequently press the home button by accident. Maybe they really want to emphasize the "hold it any way you want" aspect by taking away that anchoring button.

The only other thing the home button does, besides quitting an app, is taking a screenshot in conjunction with the lock button. I'm sure that functionality can be addressed in another way if they do take it out.

Lots of talk about the missing home button, but that iPad *could* have been photographed in landscape orientation.

UPDATE: Somebody on theverge.com analyzed the background image positioning of the bubbles over the icons and it is DEFINITELY in portrait mode.

I could see them dropping the signature home button. It looks kind of dumb on a tablet (IMHO) but I still want it on my iPhone. The gestures work great on iPad, one of my favorite features.

Apple is never afraid to push the envelope. You say they couldn't drop the home button...don't be surprised, that's all I'm saying. :D

Looks great!!! Definitly looks like retina display to me!

As for the home button, I seriously doubt they would get rid of that, at least for now. It is just way to identifiable on the iPad, plus there has been no leaks, or even rumors that I have read that would indictate they would remove the home button, but of course this is Apple, and with them, you never know...:apple:
