Look at the pixel density on that photo!!!!! Woot Woot!
Giz points out that you can't get the spacing between the icons like that unless you are in portrait mode so now I think they are going all out no home button. I'm not an iPad user (yet, I'm getting an iPad 3) but what about the other buttons. Which other buttons (or the switch) do you not use often and could be eliminated. Seems changing the volume could be done with a gesture as well as locking orientation.

The iPad image is also clearly of an iPad in portrait orientation but theres no sign of a hope button a design change that Apple has been allegedly been toying with for some time.
Is this a very small finger, or a huge iPad?
When I hold my fingers this way it surely looks quite bigger relatively to the shown display.
That picture is taken at a close enough distance that if it was the old display, you should still be able to discern the pixels on a low-res monitor... Assuming it's not a mockup, it definitely looks like a "retina" display.
Its in landscap mode....
I am excited for this, my iPad 1 is chugging along fine, and still does what I need but I haven't purchased any new apple tech in 2 years, so I'm due for something, this may be it....or a macbook air....hmmmmm
Either way iPad 3 ftw!
Cute typo in CoM's post too:
What exactly is a hope button?![]()
People for there to be no home button that would imply a new API for developers and I have not seen any new API for developers to use that replaces the home button.

This is so going to be available to purchase on march 7th... Exciting...
Technically you don't need it anymore, the all fingers gesture works great.
Something interesting to note. Apple are basically announcing that the thing has a Retina Display with their wording of the invite. I think that suggests they have something secret in store for us, maybe software or hardware for the iPad 3. Anyway, i can't wait!
My iPad with 6 icons on the dock has that spacing in landscape.
