The invitation hosts a major photo shop fail.

Why is the corner in the top right squared when the piece of paper it's coming from (and iPad) has a rounded corner?

*sigh*

Corny I know ....lol

I don't know if this is right or not but I sure hope so... so when apple is describing thunderbolt on its website it says "starting with MacBook Pro" I think that apple means this will be the year of speed or something that has to do with thunderbolt and that the iPad 2 will have a thunderbolt port as well. either on the bottom where you would normally use the 30 pin connector or on the top of the iPad.

I don't know what does everyone think??:confused:

It is all about market share, not numbers. Android is skyrocketing past iOS, as seen in the DECLINE of market share for the iPhone. A simple extrapolation of the trend lines forward tells one that there are troubles ahead for Apple. Some refuse to see it because of brand loyalty blinders firmly affixed to their heads, but Android has more momentum than does Apple. For example, more households now plan on purchasing an Android device for their next phone by a significant margin over Apple.

Apple did own the mobile space, insofar as they set the agenda for years. It was iPhone verses everyone else, and Apple cleansed their clocks. The iPhone was THE default platform for App developers, much like Windows is the default platform for almost every application or program made. However, Apple is in the process of losing this position, hence they are losing the mobile space and their agenda-setting power in it. As Android gains in market share, it will become the default platform. Later, the best and most innovative apps will be deployed on Android first and then only later on the iPhone. This will create a spiral effect, where users will begin to leave the platform in droves.

Finally, I guess I cannot challenge your 5 'ever's" I mean, I might be able to refute 2 or 3, but 5 "ever's" in a row just shows your maturity level enough to anyone who reads this to make it pointless.

I completely disagree. Apple leads, and Android is headed for trouble. The average person buys what they see on TV and in the store, and can barely tell you what Android is, but they do know what Apple is.

You keep seeing the geek crowd, and I keep looking at the bigger picture.

The image originally had a grey background so you didn't see the square corners. I think it was shown in one of the earlier posts? But i agree it is quite a shabby image, especially for Apple

just bought an iphone 4

planning on getting Ipad 2

and also purchasing a new macbook pro

I have turned into an apple fanboys by my friends standards -_- lol

If you look at the iPad 2's screen in the picture.....you will see that the right part of it is milky.....which shows the new anti-glare screen.

I believe it is going to have a high resolution of some sort. If you see iPhone 4 and iPod gallery pictures on Apple's website, they all have that milky/clear pictures to indicate their new Retina Display, but not on the iPad. That picture on the invitation is a big hint about the resolution... I hope. :D

good point. that's true. the new ipod touch and the iphone 4 have that same effect in the corner, while the ipad and iphone 3GS don't have it.

i think that's a possible indication of a retina or increased display resolution for the ipad 2 on wednesday. honestly, it looks like where the gray part cuts in toward the middle of the screen, that looks much more clear than toward the corner edges of the device. apple's gotta know people would analyze the **** outta the invitation and i'm sure they cleverly played with it to make it right. i don't think they would tease us like that, they consciously made it look the way it does.

I THINK WE'LL HAVE A RETINA DISPLAY IN THE iPAD 2.

2011 IS THE YEAR OF THE RETINA DISPLAY IPAD 2.

Sorry if someone's already said this but...

If it is iPad 2 on March 2, does that mean we'll always be able to tell the product by the date of the media event..?! :D

Maybe, maybe not. But you can probably tell the product by the PICTURE OF THE PRODUCT in the invitation. :D

Shame they didn't make the invitation very high resolution! :p

The Thunderbolt connector is too large for an iPad. The connector is thicker than USB which won't fit on the current iPad. Future iPads will be even thinner.

Sorry, but you're wrong. the Mini Display Port/Thunderbolt socket is 5.40mm tall (source), while the current iPad is 13.4mm thick (source).

How will they solve this one?

I think they already did. By making the back flat instead of curved (as we've seen in every mockup so far), there's plenty of room for a Thunderbolt port, even if they make the device 4mm thinner (again, from the mockups).

I have to say I agree.....I dont know to what extent, but hopefully its more than anti-glare....

Honestly after looking at the galleries with respect to the invite, its a really poor tease to not increase resolution....all the shots of the screens with retina displays CLEARLY show that same line, and the ipad CLEARLY does not.

I don't know that it actually MEANS retina, but its not like the ipad getting anti-glare components would be consistant with the ipad/itouch....

Its intriguing at the least. I refuse to buy BACK into the idea that it is retina, but the invite is certainly pointing to something with that IMO.

It certainly wouldn't be entirely un-apple for clues of something special to end up underwhelming in the end.

Not at all stating that its the case all the time, just saying.

I hope, but do not in the least expect a rez bump here.

If the dense dots doesnt imply a higher resolution display, then what the heck is it supposed to be indicative of? iLife? Multi coloured iPads?

the dots for the yerba buena center (on the left depict the past, spread out; on the right, closer together depict the future)
+ the invite for the event clearly depicting a better resolution
= resolution increase for the ipad 2 at march 2nd's event.

really surprised more people aren't talking about these two things together, which are right in front of our faces giving us clues about the event. apple designed both of these visual clues that way for a reason, they wouldn't do something like that to piss off their customers, but i'm sure they thought more people would GET IT by now!

come on people, seriously! pay attention

In what way does the invite imply higher resolution? I don't notice anything.

go to apple.com and look at the iphone 4 and the ipod touch. look at the galleries for them and you'll see the same grayish shading over the top corner, the same as you see in the top right corner of the ipad 2 invitation. this sticks out like a sore thumb on the invite.

then go to the ipad and the iphone 3gs galleries on apple's site, you'll notice they don't have that grayish shading. apple consciously put this shading on the iphone 4 and ipod touch to show the retina difference to the other devices' galleries. then they put it on the invitation when they designed it, another conscious decision.

this, along with the design of the yerba buena center, are the two clues apple's given us to tell us what's coming. i think the ipad 2 will have a better resolution display.

Well, we hope you're right, ey?

For those noting the glare on the screen may point to a retina display - well spotted, I know I wouldn't have noticed that!

Now that you mention it though, it does seem like a reasonable hint.

And for those who aren't quite sure what this means, I threw this together to show retina vs. non-retina displays and they way their screen are shown.

Wow, you guys will latch on to anything, personally I think what you call the milky corner, is to show the screen is glossy, it's just apple's graphic designers updating their designs, it looked good on the iPhone 4, so thet are now doing it on other devices, simply to emphasise the glossy glass front.

I'm not saying it won't have a higher res, I hope it does, but I don't think this reflective look has anything to do with retina, it's just changing design.

I haven't followed this thread at all, but the app line art for iPad this morning was updated and the major update was "optimized for retina display"

Makes me think the iPad will see a retina display.
