Sprint is an absolutely excellent provider. I switched to AT&T because I wanted the iPhone, but if Sprint gets it, switching back may be in my future depending on how they price their plans and offer tethering.

Either way, more competition = good!

This won't happen. Apple will NEVER make a CDMA iPhone. They will only build GSM so they can sell worldwide. The engineering is just too expensive for the return in profit.;)

I'll definitely consider an iPhone IF the Pre3 falls short of my expectations. Been on sprint for 10 years with no problems. Am ready to dump my EVO. Android isn't for me plus google does a PPJ of watching there apps. Wish the iPhone would come out next month though.

That'd be wonderful. Even more iPhones in the world.

Um. The Verizon iPhone is CDMA.

Um. The Verizon iPhone is CDMA.

I was being sarcastic.;) If you were around here before the Verizon iPhone came out you would know how many of us were ridiculed for saying that Apple would release a Verizon or Sprint iPhone. They claimed that Apple would never release a CDMA iPhone. I expect to see a Sprint one soon.

A friend of mine was at V.I.R. this past weekend for the Grand-Am races and found a banner for Grand-Am mobile app running on an iPhone with a Sprint logo..

Yes, It's a bad photoshop job on the banner, but it was out there. There's no mistaking that the device is an iPhone.

Except for the fact that the carrier's name is not branded on the phone, it is displayed next to the signal strength...

That Photoshop job is a mess from head to toe.

Next step, Verizon will buy Sprint. Then there will only be two major carriers. Soon thereafter, Apple will buy AT&T and Verizon, merge them into a single company called iTalk and only one phone will be sold in the entire US, the iPhone. There will be mass hysteria and suicides.

So far I'll stay with AT&T I left Sprint after 13 yhears when I got my iPhone in 2009. I not only left for the iPhone but because the customer Service SUCKED compared to when I started with them. I think the decline in customer service happened when they purchased Nextel.

The main reason I prefer AT&T vs Verizon is the web surfing isn't disabled during a call. That's only on GSM right? or is it the carrier's discretion?

also, I do not have the At&T drop calls problem most people complain about not even in NYC. Another thing is that I'm grandfathered unlimited data on AT&T.

Now, when I get the iPad I may go to Verizon since the prices are cheaper and I don't have to worry about the phone calls/web surfing co-existing.

Are the 3G service and speed the same on both networks?
or is one worse than the other?

I know you are being sarcastic here, but it would not surprise me if Verizon goes after Sprint. I think they will wait to see how the AT&T-T-Mobile merger goes and if the FCC and DOJ stamps off on it I expect to see Verizon make an attempt to buy Sprint.

I think the possibility of having 2 nationwide carriers (Verizon and AT&T) is very possible in the future.

google voice. um, not right now.

Android has Google Voice integrated
Windows Mobile has now (soon) Skype integrated

and Apple has ... , well, hmmm, guess Apple has FaceTime ... too bad I can only call Apple people with it.

Google Voice integration is nice in theory. But you obviously haven't been following all of the various problems that Sprint customers have had with the integration.

If the rumors are true, I'll be very happy. I tease the reps every time I take our Android phones in for repairs/replacements.

Me: "iPhone yet?"

Rep: "No."

*three months passes*

Me: "iPhone yet?"

Rep: "No."

*two months pass*

Me: "iPhone yet?"

Rep: "No!"

*repeat above*

:p
