If the rumors are true, I'll be very happy. I tease the reps every time I take our Android phones in for repairs/replacements.

Me: "iPhone yet?"

Rep: "No."

*three months passes*

Me: "iPhone yet?"

Rep: "No."

*two months pass*

Me: "iPhone yet?"

Rep: "No!"

*repeat above*

:p

Well, if you need to keep bringing your ANDROID phones back every 2-3 months for repairs or replacements perhaps you ought to be thinking to get rid of ANDROID just sayin...:eek::eek:

I was being sarcastic.;) If you were around here before the Verizon iPhone came out you would know how many of us were ridiculed for saying that Apple would release a Verizon or Sprint iPhone. They claimed that Apple would never release a CDMA iPhone. I expect to see a Sprint one soon.
Ah, my bad. Didn't see the winky face. :p

Not only would providing an iPhone that runs on all carriers allow iPhone to better compete with android, but competition between carriers for iPhone customers would (hopefully) allow for better plan prices for us.

Sprint has same drawbacks as Verizon

Sprint will have the same inferior service as Verizon. Both providers have CDMA. Both suffer from:

  • Slow speeds (Apple keeps rolling out faster and faster GSM speeds leaving Sprint and Verizon behind.)
  • Lack of data/voice multitasking. Your smartphone is no longer very smart.
  • A limited global footprint. Buy a second iPhone from AT&T for your next trip.
  • Primitive conferance call ability (limited # of users and inability to selectively drop a single caller)

It is the release of the hard drive firmware for the NEW iMac so people can upgrade their drives.

  • Slow speeds (Apple keeps rolling out faster and faster GSM speeds leaving Sprint and Verizon behind.) Not with LTE. Now the pressure is on apple to add LTE support.
  • Lack of data/voice multitasking. Your smartphone is no longer very smart. A feature that many people cry about but few actually use. Also going away with LTE.
  • A limited global footprint. Buy a second iPhone from AT&T for your next trip. Except when Apple enables the GSM radio inside their CDMA iphones.
  • Primitive conferance call ability (limited # of users and inability to selectively drop a single caller) Again, few people actually use it, just like to point to it as a bad reason to not switch.

1) Oh well, I download apps over WiFi and browsing on my gf's VZW iPhone is perfectly fine over 3G. Not blazing fast, but fine. Still one of the best phone browsing experiences I've ever had.
2) Noone does that. Seriously, that isn't even a consideration for 99% of people.

I mean really, noone does that. I can't even concentrate on a phone call let alone trying to browse the web while I'm talking on the phone. That's just rude!
3) If you travel around the world that much, you'll go to ATT for your iPhone. Simple. Look at the people that have iPhones in the wild, the majority aren't businesspeople or world travelers.
4) Again, über business users will get a Blackberry for this.

This phone will sell like hotcakes on Sprint.

EDIT: Looks like chrmjenkins beat me to it :p

This is good news - now hurry up Apple and Qualcom. We want a "world iphone" that does dual band's GSM & CDMA, that we we don't have 12 different models to chose from like the iPad 2.

The more carriers the better. Just hurry already. People who still can't get iPhones on their carrier are still buying Android phones.

It's okay. From what I've seen, owning an Android phone is one of the quickest routes to becoming an iPhone fan. :D

Thats crazy. I live in Overland Park, Kansas. Sprint service still sucks. I wouldn't buy an iphone on sprint even if it came out. I'm itching to move over to Verizon once I can !

Sounds like he wants to... But looks like he might want to dump Sprint first. :)

Apple keeps rolling out faster and faster GSM speeds? You do realize that AT&T is not owned by Apple? Right?

A lot of people value having the Verizon network because when you want to make a call... it just works. Every survey ever taken seems to agree with Verizon having the most reliable service nationwide. Pick the carrier that works best for you. Some might value the faster data speed of AT&T and some may value the better coverage and low incidence of call dropping on Verizon. Unless you are an employee or a shareholder of either company you should not worry about the network that they choose.

I just want to stop carrying an iPod touch and a dumb phone. I don't even need a dataplan.

So after one month u stop asking ?

It's my patented response every time their solution to our phone issues is just to upgrade our phones.....and, of course, sign another two year contract.

We bought three at the same time, so it may have been a bad batch. All three have been replaced at least once, and one has been replaced three times. That's at least five opportunities to remind Sprint they are missing out by not carrying the world's most popular phone, and I've heard others asking, too. If our collective cries get heard somewhere up the ladder, maybe they'll do something about it.

One thing is for certain: if this rumor proves false, our entire office is moving off Blackberries and Android phones at Sprint and going to Verizon iPhones at the next refresh.

I just want to stop carrying an iPod touch and a dumb phone. I don't even need a dataplan.

Same here.

Adding Wi-Max to their already cramped interior? No way. No Sprint 4G. Now Sprint does have some LTE access.....

I just have to ask

Why did apple wait so long?

Exclusivity contract with AT&T until the end of 2010 ... then they probably wanted to see how the roll-out of the CDMA iphone went with Verizon before expanding onto other carriers.

I wish I could buy an iPhone for my $25/month Virgin Mobile plan :) That would be sweet lol

i agree! Would jump right on that. I can already picture the banner of the phone saying "Virgin-US". Problem is that you would have to buy the phone outright for $700. At that point, I'd just stick with AT&T.

What about the 5th carrier U.S Cellular?
We need some love to Apple!:(

I doubt it since they don't have nationwide service. I'm sure if Apple is expanding which network the iPhone works on, then they'd be more focused on something else.

And isn't Metro-PCS the 5th largest?
