Okay, I'm confused as to what exactly the problem is in that screenshot.

Edit: Wait...nevermind. I see it. That is weird and odd.

Edit 2: I tried replicating the issue by making a .java file by renaming a .txt file extension, and this is what I got. The only thing I can figure is your "Open With" is renamed to just "Open" for some incredibly off reason.

Hell if I know why. I've never seen that happen before in my life.

That's strange. What version of Windows 7 do you have? It also happens on the computers at my school. Also, that computer I tested it on randomly went non-genuine a minute after I took that screenshot. Mine is Home Premium, and the school is Professional.

Unstable.

I'm running Windows 8 there, but my official not beta version is 7 Pro.

The only think I can think of that would cause Windows to lose it's genuine certificate regularly would be that you're running a pirated copy, and forgot to turn Windows Update off. Otherwise, it happening once? Possible. Twice? A little more out there, but some people are that unlucky.. It happening to you, your brother, and all your computers at school over and over again? That just flat out doesn't happen.

No offense, man. Maybe you're computer jinxed, and are honestly experiencing all these problems. Besides that, the only reasons I can think of that explains your situation (besides the two "open" commands, which is weird, and lends credence to the "you're just unlucky" theory), is...

1. You're running nothing but pirated copies of Windows.
2. You're lying.
3. You're beating your Windows machines with a hammer.

I can't think of anything else.

The ones at school are not having licensing issues. Mine is. Three of my friends are also having the problem with it losing its "genuine"-ness.

I am using a completely legit Windows 7 disc. The 3 friends have computers that came with Windows 7.

And if you go on Memebase or something, it's not an uncommon issue for it to do that. It's even almost a meme itself: "Your copy of Windows 7 is not genuine."

The people experiencing these problems are simply unlucky. Windows is unstable cr@p.

So where exactly are MS in their business at the moment? Are they..."made of fail"? "No longer relevant"? "A dying company"? I want to see how you'll spin this.

"crappy" if you want to compare them to Apple's success.
Not crappy in general at all.

Don't think I'm a hater or ignorant fanboy, just because something I said doesn't sound right immediately. :D

Does it bother you that Microsoft sells an Office DVD for $200 that cost them about $0.93 to make?

There's a heck of a lot more to business than just selling assembled component parts.

If anything, to make that DVD it costs at most, $0.30 and they still sell you the back-up copy DVD (assuming you bought the software online) for $10 PLUS shipping which is another $8.
