Apple has shown its hand time and again, standing for defense of civil rights, of LGBTQ rights, of privacy itself. And because of this I believe the men and women within the circled walls have no love for the pedophile-in-chief.
Part of me thinks Apple is doing what it must to keep their operations running smoothly during the current political turbulence. However, the more Tim Apple does for the current administration, the bigger my ick gets.

If Apple really cared about keeping up appearances, they could do good CSR as conspicuously as they are their pro-Trump moves.

Releasing a black unity watch band and perhaps later a pride watch band isn’t really enough to distract us from gifting trophies to the president, donating millions to the ballroom (which may be a lid on top of an underground data centre) and attending the Melania premier so soon after the Alex Pretti execution.

I’m just going to gloss over the main issue with this acquisition and say this: when will apple dish out the real money and acquire Anthropic???
When Apple can go bargain-shopping for talent and technologies after AI models fully become commodities and the smaller shops and/or overleveraged startups won't be able to survive that flattening.

American govt isn’t openly funding terrorism in any other country. And the article is about Israeli company acquisition.
Devils advocate. So the USA isn’t openly funding terrorism, but they are doing so behind closed doors?

America openly finds tons of terrorism the world over. Remember, there are two or more sides to every story/conflict.
The USA funding groups against Iran, would be funding Terrorism in Iran’s eyes.

Incredible. A post about Apple making a huge AI acquisition has to go in the political forum because of the country the company is from. I didn't even notice that in the post until the comments. Why does everything have to be so politicized.

Let’s get real. Israel is notorious for spying on its allies. They bring gifts to American politicians and every single time they get scanned, they find bugs in them. Pagers with bombs in them. I got the ick just reading that apple would acquire a company from this country. Then I read these Israeli developers are joining Apple’s team. That is OMINOUS in ways we may not see realised until much later. If we want to start doomsaying, Apple devices could turn into a global network of bugs for Israel to prosecute its critics.

It seems they have patents. Not sure how patterns detected by AI are patentable hey it's something.
Perhaps novel algorithms or something I dunno. I supposed it's more about the tech being ready for market and the talent involved???
But hey, they were able to trot it out to investors and say
"SEE! we working on AI!!"
"2 BILLION dollars worth!! IN! YOUR! FACE!"

wtf with the subtle antisemitism in the posts. Im muslim and though israeli government policy is crap and genocidal, don't diss the jews. Israel has some great engineers and startup scene. Diss the government policy not the individuals who work hard at tech like this
Even the fact that this is listed under Political News is rooted in antisemitism. (It's giving "Why moderate a non-political topic when we can just throw it in Political News and let people talk about Zionism?") We all know how people are in the Political News forum.

This has nothing to do with Israel's (trash-ass and genocidal) policies, this has to do with a company based in Israel.

edit: gave context to first sentence

Those here, who for some reason don't like that this company is from Israel, maybe stop using Face ID?

One of the founders of this company was a founder of the company which Apple acquired for the technology that was the basis of Face ID:

I'm going to make what seems like is one of the few posts on this thread that is talking about the actual acquisition, as this is a tech site for apple fans...

Seems exciting to me - and proof that Apple is serious about fixing Siri, as it's anticipating a world in which Apple actually uses Siri...

...Which might turn out to be quite a noisy world with us all jabbering at our phones, so hopefully this tech can stop that.

Incidentally, I was thinking today that if Siri is actually going to be useful and people do start using it, we could all end up triggering Siri on each other's devices.

So I hope that Apple has long-ish canned list of names up its sleeve that we can use to rename Siri.

We don’t fund most of the other countries’ atrocities and let them bitch-slap us around, that’s a unique privilege we save for israel bc we felt bad that they got wrecked in WW2 so we decided to gift them a country, limitless military security, and indiscriminate funding. So yeah, we get a little more upset about them being sh¡tty than the countries who do it all by themselves without our help.

You fund Jordan and Egypt. Both shinning examples of human rights

Yes, the US voted in favor of the 1947 partition that would have given both the Jews and Arabs their own states. Of course, the Arabs chose to attack the Jews instead.

Israel successfully fought and survived two major wars without major US military funding.

When the needs of the few outweigh the needs of the many you see times like this. Non verbal speech AI enhancements taking prioritization over modernizing Siri overall. OK.

Or am I reading this wrong in a non-verbal way where I should be communicating with hand gestures and eyebrow raises?

Does this unlock Siri's ability to fail (like it always does) and finally understand what it means when I flip Siri off?

>"Patents filed by Q.Ai show its technology being used in headphones or glasses, using 'facial skin micro movements' to communicate without talking," the report said, adding that this could pave the way for "non-verbal discussions" with Siri.

Ouch! Been a while since I rolled my eyes that hard.

lol they sure aren't afraid of political implications lately between cook and this.

Can't blame them, Israeli are the best in many departments ,and the value jews place on education might be what made them the smartest ethnicity on earth (last I checked). As well as ...erm... natural selection
