Well? In 1941, Japan killed 2,400 US soldiers. The US killed several million Japanese as a result of that attack.
War is not a soccer match. There is no referee or scorekeeper. Israel was extremely clear from the start that there were two conditions to the war in Gaza: Release the hostages, and Hamas leave Gaza. Very justifiable conditions. Israel did not seek one inch of Gaza land. Hamas finally agreed to disarm but they have not kept that agreement.
As for the poor suffering Palestinians, they could have overthrown their government, and they probably would have, except that Hamas was armed to the teeth by weapons smuggled in by Iran. This is why every aid shipment had to be inspected, which took time.
